This original Leipzig beer specialty lends us the name for our brewery. Gose is a regional beer specialty that was brought to Saxony-Anhalt in the year 1738. Originally Gose comes from Goslar, a small town in Lower Saxony, and the river “Gose” in this town. This beer specialty has a refreshing, slightly sour taste and is ideal for quenching your thirst. Gose is brewed with the additional ingredients lactic acid, cilantro, and salt. Gose is a top-fermented beer with 4,5 Vol. % alcohol and 10,8 % wort. You can enjoy it in different variations.

Bottle from Hop City in Atlanta. 12oz poured into a wheat beer glass. One finger frothy head lingered for 60 seconds. Very cloudy pour with a yellowish orange hue. The nose is bread, cereal, wild yeasts, coriander and light citrus. The taste is first citrus fruity, then the coriander, then the salty wild yeast finish. Medium light tartness. Tingles on the palette. Nice for the style. Refreshing.

Aroma - is a little doughy, slightly barnyard in nature Appearance - it’s body is a cloudy yellow, with a white head that quickly falls to a white ring. Taste - is tangy akin to a hefeweizen or white Feel - is soft, smooth, and leaves a tart aftertaste. Very nice. Nice beer, nice style. Will be looking for more of this style. --- JPS

Nice orange amber color, short white head. There is a slight coriander aroma, coupled with a fruitiness. Light bodied with a slight sweet taste. Same comes through but it is subtle. Nice brew.

@ Sergio’s / Louisville - Clear gold with a lot of rising bubbles, long-lasting 1" white head, curtain of lace. Really good looking. Taste is light sour malt that smoothly moves through the palate to a hint of bitter in the finish, which is all that is needed to balance things. Refreshing, palate cleansing, easy to drink.

This is an interesting concoction. The salt is extremely subtle and is only there to bring out the flavor-- just a touch-- of the brew’s other elements. To me, the coriander translates into a tart, light lemony zest. I was trying to get an idea of what kind of beer this is, without the extra spices; I got the impression that maybe it was a mediocre lager, or maybe a kolsch style ale. I would like to try these flavors with a fine German weiss, as I’m sure this would be a knockout. Maybe I will even add a bit of salt to my next weiss. As it stands now, this style of beer seems to be the German equivalent to shandy. I would like to try this beer again.

FDBK 2010. The head is medium. It smells sour-salty, bit malty. The taste is sour-salty, bit sweet-fruity, bit yeasty. Nice! 3.7

Bottle 33 cl. Pours unclear golden in color with a small head. Sour fruity notes, seashore vibes, not over the top but in a rather mild and nice manner. Light sour fruity citrus with notes of spicy saltyness in taste. Refreshing and good tasting.

Pours slightly hazy yellow-gold with medium white frothy head. Aroma is strong: equal parts delicious yeasty funk, wheaty grain, and lemon. Grain aroma highly reminiscent of a lager style. Coriander is detectable but I doubt I would recognize it if I didn’t know it was there. Taste is mostly sour, followed a hint of sweetness, with a mild, barely bitter finish. The salt is noticeable in the finish and rounds out the flavor profile nicely. Palate is interesting-- the sourness gives it a full, dynamic mouthfeel. Texture is creamy but not too thick. The salt affects the palate as well, imparting a longer finish. Overall good, refreshing. Love the salt. Seriously, salt makes everything better. Maybe I’ll start salting all my beer. ;)
