This original Leipzig beer specialty lends us the name for our brewery. Gose is a regional beer specialty that was brought to Saxony-Anhalt in the year 1738. Originally Gose comes from Goslar, a small town in Lower Saxony, and the river “Gose” in this town. This beer specialty has a refreshing, slightly sour taste and is ideal for quenching your thirst. Gose is brewed with the additional ingredients lactic acid, cilantro, and salt. Gose is a top-fermented beer with 4,5 Vol. % alcohol and 10,8 % wort. You can enjoy it in different variations.

Nose is citrus and herbs. Pale golden to straw with a fizzing fading head. Slightly tart with notes of citrus. Light bodied with a snappy finish.

12oz bottle picked up at Brewer’s Haven on the way home tonight... Pours a slightly hazed golden. No real head or lacing. Nose is wheat and lactic/lemon with hints of coriander... a bit floral. Lactic element is easier to pick out on the palate.. Coriander is light and adds to the drinkability... quenching Light body, good carbonation.... Industry standard.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy orange with a medium frothy white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong salt, funk, and lacto. Thin mouthfeel with a nice light tartness with nice lacto and funk finish. Easy to drink, a very good gose.

12oz bottle to glass. Pours a hazy golden, with a light white head. Aroma is wheat, slight citrus, salinity, smells slightly tart. Taste is wheaty, very slightly tart, light saltiness. Not as bold as I would have liked. Palate is light body, high carbination. Refreshing. Overall, a good supper on a hot day but not as bold as a Westbrook Gose.

Hazy yellow pour with a white head. Aromas of malt, salt, slight yeast, and some sour notes. Flavor is malt upfront with a nice tartness on the finish along with a touch of salt. Very drinkable.

First Gose for me. Expected more coriander. Appearance looked like a standard lager but very little head, no lace. Decent golden color with a lot of carbonation action. As mentioned didn’t pick up any coriander in the aroma (and taste). The salt was not noticeable in the flavor but found in the aftertaste. Similar to the salt-flavor-aftertaste you get after sipping a margarita. The mouthfeel was originally very lively but I didn’t pound the beer and after sitting 10 min or so, it quickly came across almost flat. It was refreshing at first, then became more interesting than sessionable. I don’t have any other Gose reference so I attempted to be fair in evaluating.

Bottle. Hazy golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma and flavor of lemon zest, sea salt, pretzels, coriander. Finish is wheat, spice, and sour mash. Interesting.
