This original Leipzig beer specialty lends us the name for our brewery. Gose is a regional beer specialty that was brought to Saxony-Anhalt in the year 1738. Originally Gose comes from Goslar, a small town in Lower Saxony, and the river “Gose” in this town. This beer specialty has a refreshing, slightly sour taste and is ideal for quenching your thirst. Gose is brewed with the additional ingredients lactic acid, cilantro, and salt. Gose is a top-fermented beer with 4,5 Vol. % alcohol and 10,8 % wort. You can enjoy it in different variations.

Bottle, shared with Jeff. Hazy bright golden with a generous white head that shows excellent retention. Aroma is evocative of sweet tart berry fruit. Lovely bright palate with flavours of gooseberries and subtle spice, finishing with a delicate tartness that never quite reaches sour proportions. Nothing saline about this beer at all-- my fears were not realized! Actually an incredibly refreshing lighter beer that I wish I could have more of. An unexpected pleasure!

330 ml bottle from Drikk Godt. Golden/amber and hazy. Small white head that quickly disappears. Some wheat taste, maybe similar to wit-beers. All in all taste is foreign to me but good.

Bottle from Whole Foods Sugar Land. Very cloudy yellowish orange with a rapidly receding white head. Aroma of sour yeast/wheat with coriander. Taste is very lightly tart and wheaty with some fruitiness. Light bodied, crisp, and refreshing.

Yeast aroma with citrus and funky lacto-smell, and coriander. Tangy and balanced. Smooth and refreshing. A bit salty with touches of peach. Pleasant beer.

Bottle from Humlen Ølutsalg, Bergen. One of the original German gose beers? Exciting indeed. Pours a slightly hazy golden body with a medium white head. Nose is citrus, rose water, minerals, pale malts and hints of apricot and straw. Taste is pale malts, citrus, apricot, straw and hints of red berries, minerals and salt. Light body, medium to high carbonation. Very different from most "craft goses", this beer sports a lot of fruitiness and quite a bit of salt, while being rather restraint when it comes to lactic sour tones - the ones present are also pretty different from the classic sour mash notes. I do prefer sour mashing or otherwise bacterial souring over added lactic acid, which seems to be the case here, but otherwise this is a thirst-quenching and easy-going beer for sure.

Many thanks for this traditional Gose Beer to kevnic2008. Bottle 33cl. Super do lekko usmażonej ryby i kiszonych ogurkow. Fajna etykieta. Bardzo tradycyjne i fajne Gose z Lipska.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly cloudy yellow color with a large white head. The aroma is grains and coriander. The taste is spiced grain that is lightly tart. An excellent gose.

Bottle, from Message in a Bottle, Cleethorpes. Faintly hazy gold with a persistant and thick white head, good condition. Gentle lemony spice note in the nose reminiscent of a Belgian Wit, with a slightly sweaty backnote of earthiness, in the mouth it is soft with a slightly refreshing saltiness and a now muted coriander sweetness, some dry tartness develops with time lending a powdery chalkiness to the finish and an oiliness to the lips, some slight tartness lingers in the aftertaste.

Received in a tulip from tap. 4.0 A: Murky medium orange color. Two fingers frothy white head. Retention is decent with spotty lacing. 3.75 S: Lots of pepper with a salty tanginess. Strong neutral wheat. Touch of lemon fruitiness. 3.75 T: Salt dominates the taste, but it isn’t overpowering. It mixes well with peppery yeast. Stronger lemon than the nose. Hint of clove underneath. 4.0 M: Medium body. Pleasantly creamy with good moderate carbonation. 3.75 D: Very good for a hard to find style. ★ 513 characters DavoleBomb, May 05, 2015
