Commercial Description:
Name changed to Dancing Trout as of 2007. Trout Slayer is called "Crystal Weizen" in Bavaria and is the filtered version of our Bayern Hefeweizen and has a more pronounced wheat flavor and a golden color. Bayern's Trout Slayer is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.6% alc./volume. We use malted wheat, two-row Harrington Pale and caramel malt (14° Plato o.g.). Technically speaking, you could call this beer an ale because it is top-fermented. However, this beer has been cold fermented and the maturation time is as long as lager beer (a full 28 days instead of 8-10 days like an ale).

Bottle Finally a German Kristallweizen. The last one of this style I had the changed the style DAMB it. Well on with the rate. Pours out a cloudy straw topped with a white head. Aroma of sweet malt and caramel. Tast was of malt, some fruit and a little corn. Thanks Jake for this Style DONE.

Bottle. Minerally pale malt nose with just a hint of hop funk. Flat, light pale orange body with a creamy white head. Taste lightly tart, lightly metallic, with a bready finish. Not exactly crisp, not exactly ’bodied’ - yet also not watery. Faint bitterness, very faint esters, does, however, avoid the sort of stale graininess that plagues the style. Drank it all!

Better than I remembered it from last bottle a couple years ago. Fairly smooth, light and drinkable. Oddly, I agree it is better since they changed the name. Must have also changed the recipe.

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. As far as Crystal Weiz’s go, it’s alright. As far as beers go, it’s a watery mess. Big three status. Not good.

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Just like the previous rater stated it just seemed flat. Not much taste except for a hint of citrus. Probably wont buy this one again
