Commercial Description:
Name changed to Dancing Trout as of 2007. Trout Slayer is called "Crystal Weizen" in Bavaria and is the filtered version of our Bayern Hefeweizen and has a more pronounced wheat flavor and a golden color. Bayern's Trout Slayer is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.6% alc./volume. We use malted wheat, two-row Harrington Pale and caramel malt (14° Plato o.g.). Technically speaking, you could call this beer an ale because it is top-fermented. However, this beer has been cold fermented and the maturation time is as long as lager beer (a full 28 days instead of 8-10 days like an ale).

Slightly more orange-gold than their pilsener, clear. Sweet malty aroma with a vague fruit quality. Pale malt flavour with a berry fruit note, sweet finish. Kristallweizens are kind of a weird style to begin with, and this doesn’t really even fit the style! Not estery at all, just sweet.

12 oz bottle. Pours the color of straw, thin head and super charged carbonation. Aroma is of wheat and lemon grass. Flavor has a mild spice with hints of banana and lemon. Light mouthfeel with a short hop bite. This beer is much better with preztels.

Bottle from 5000. Very lagery aroma, slightly sweet, some corn, german hops, bubblegum. Pours really fizzy and is not at all crystal clear. Flavor is rather sweet, wheaty, with more bubblegum. Not a bad brew.

Pours a dark golden colour with a small thin off white malty head. Aroma is a bit malty, taste is relatively smooth, with a firm hop finish. Flavors of lemon, pear and green apples.

Bottle. Siilly Name and label. Pleasant aroma, recalling freshly baked bread. Clear gold colour, with thin fast dissipating head. Full wheat flavour with a lingering bitter finish. A pleasing wheat beer.

A little funky - sweet and yeasty with a tad bit of caramel and lots of banana on the nose. I also thought it came across as being a little soapy.
