Commercial Description:
Name changed to Dancing Trout as of 2007. Trout Slayer is called "Crystal Weizen" in Bavaria and is the filtered version of our Bayern Hefeweizen and has a more pronounced wheat flavor and a golden color. Bayern's Trout Slayer is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.6% alc./volume. We use malted wheat, two-row Harrington Pale and caramel malt (14° Plato o.g.). Technically speaking, you could call this beer an ale because it is top-fermented. However, this beer has been cold fermented and the maturation time is as long as lager beer (a full 28 days instead of 8-10 days like an ale).

Never have understood the reason for Kristalweizen...kind of a pointless genre...I have no frame of reference except North American filtered "wheat beer" that to judge this with and as a Kristal weizen I suppose this is acceptable...no off tastes, well made but just pointless...notes of toffee malts, overly filtered with no fruity esters or phenols, no hop balance.. a tad bland and thin with a sweet finish....not my cup of T

Not the most exciting brew, but very drinkable and pleasant. Soft wheaty sweetness almost like a kolsch. Fruity with a rather lemony finish. Not a lot going on, but it is well made and quaffable.

12 oz. bottle. Pale gold in color. Not much of a head. Nice bready, grassy nose. Sharp, quick hop bite on the tip of the tongue, then sweet malts on the way down. How do you go from Trout Slayer to Dancing Trout? What would Freud say about the artwork? Hmm...

12 oz. bottle. Troutslayer has a clear amber color with a fleeting head. Nice spicy, smokey, tart citrus smell. Medium bodied with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel, nicely carbonated. Has a malty, bready sweet tart flavor followed by a spicy yeasty finish. Very easy drinking, this works great as a ( fishing ) session brew ! 2002

Poured a light golden hue with a medium-sized white head. Nose of bready malts and caramel hops. Light yet gritty and slightly tangy. A bit boring overall, but easy to drink.

Thanks to Pigboy for bringing me this one from a trip out of state. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy dark amber color with a small white head. The aroma was tangy with hints of caramel and floral hops. The flavor was tangy with light notes of caramel and fruity hops.

On tap in Whitefish, Montana this one poured a light clear golden color with plenty of carbonation. Bitter, refreshing and hoppy. I had a hard time detecting the wheat malt though. Pretty smooth but kinda boring and uneventfull.

(Bottle, BB Nov 07) Pours a lightly hazy yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of grass, flora, and lightly toasted grain. Flavor of honey, floral hops, and caramel with an oily mouthfeel.
