jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 20, 2007 @Mountain Beerfest-on tap-pours a retaining foamy white head and yellow color. Aroma is faint light/medium malt-caramel. Taste is light/medium malt-caramel, secondary light floral/spice hops. OK carbonation. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium Jun 12, 2007 Bottle. A litle taste of herbs makes this till an average Weizen bier. Tasted it on the way too Yellowstone Park. Started in San Jose bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Jun 4, 2007 Sort of a wheat and yeast aroma. Brassy color witha slight white head. Ok, this one has some definite banana. Nearly medium bodied. Wheat. Mild carbonation. Finishes rather dryish, with some hints of yeast. Maybe some hints of bitter. This is a good drinker, but perhaps a bit more flavorful than is common with the style. Feels good in the mouth. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA May 23, 2007 Draft at Finn & Porter, Missoula. Dark gold with a light head. Mildly yeasty, maybe? Hint of mild spice, but this is quite light. I asked the bartender if this was a wheat beer, he said, "No, it’s an ale." Duh. Nice sharp and clear like I’m sure it was meant to be. (#2937, 5/20/2007) Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 2, 2007 From the bottle this pours a clear golden/yellow body with an initially tall, frothy head. The aroma is wheaty like an American wheat beer, although more soft fruits and a squirt of lemon also come though. It tastes wheaty with a sour lemon finish. Actually not bad, but I’ll never understand why someone would filter a hefeweizen.

Clear golden beer, with a good sized, bubbly/frothy white head.
malty, lagerish aroma, toffeeish tones to the malt.
Malty flavour mainlly finished quite sour, not sure if this is how it is meant to be, some faint wheatyiness.
Not too bad on the palate.
NOt a great drinker for me, the sour aspect just didnt seem right. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Apr 2, 2007 From a bottle this poured a liight god with little head and therefore no lacing. In short, appearance was lacking. Nose was was corn and hops. Mouthfeel was light and a bit watery. Flavor was citrus and hoips. A very poor example of what is in German a good beer. Not recommended. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Mar 7, 2007 Bottle split with Muenster. Pours a pissy, almost flat golden color with no head. The nose is weak with notes of corn and papery hops. There’s a little something in the flavor that’s pretty good, but it’s so faint that I can’t thoroughly isolate it. It’s a slight lemony flavor, perhaps. There are no true hop cajones on this one. This is one of the extra light pale ales with no real distinctive qualities. Trout Slayer has probably been designed for consumption at times when much thought needn’t be given to the brew. (After putting my rating up, I’m very surprised to see this is a German Kristallweizen. Filtered indeed. . . )
