Never have understood the reason for Kristalweizen...kind of a pointless genre...I have no frame of reference except that to judhe this with and as a Kristalweizen I suppose this is acceptable...no off tastes, well made but just pointless...nit of toffee malts overly filtered, no fruity esters or pheniols, no hop balance.. a tad bland and thin with a sweet finish....not my cup of T
bitbucket (1476), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold with a thin and lacy white head. Citrus and floral nose, light body, medium carbonation. Lightly sweet toffee taste with a dry finish. scrizzz (455), kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 29, 2008 definitely different than the trout slayer. completely clear, brighter gold with a pronounced honey notes. smooth throughout, soft with long fruity esters. spagyetti (68), Puyallup, Washington, USA Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Nice example of a hefe this side of the pond. Nice head, very drinkable, only missing the sense of bubble gum. Perfect after a day "Trout Slaying". DrBayern (883), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jun 25, 2008 12 oz. bottle on 6/25/08, brought to me by a friend from a recent trip to Montana. <P>Aroma - Starts with a little spiciness, fruity aromas follow, some graininess, and finally a little bubblegum.
Appearance - Clear yellow, medium white head that settles quickly.
Flavor - Fairly sweet up front, honey type flavors, then a slowly building soft bitterness sets in.
Palate - Light body, medium carbonation, faint stickiness, but a soft dry finish ultimately prevails.
Overall - Easy drinking, smooth, slightly sweet, could be a little cleaner and more tart for my tastes. ratman197 (2190), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle poured a hazy golden yellow with a small diminishing off white head. Aromas of wheat, lemon and a hint of yeast. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a slightly dry finish. Flavors of wheat, straw, light citrus and a hint of spice with a smooth lightly dry lightly bitter finish.
