Commercial Description:
Name changed to Dancing Trout as of 2007. Trout Slayer is called "Crystal Weizen" in Bavaria and is the filtered version of our Bayern Hefeweizen and has a more pronounced wheat flavor and a golden color. Bayern's Trout Slayer is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.6% alc./volume. We use malted wheat, two-row Harrington Pale and caramel malt (14° Plato o.g.). Technically speaking, you could call this beer an ale because it is top-fermented. However, this beer has been cold fermented and the maturation time is as long as lager beer (a full 28 days instead of 8-10 days like an ale).

I’d be drinking it weekly if I could get my hands on it! It poured a dark yellow with a thin head but smelled of roasted corn. A wheaty hops taste w/o the bitter aftertaste as well a resonable %. Brewed in Montana, US in the heart of the rockies with fresh glacier waters. Great Micro brew!

This was one of the more common sixes in the fridge last summer when I was a fishing guide, and it will be again when I go back in a month. It’s a very good beer to drink while enjoying a good contemporary-style meal (Sawtooth Deli in Gardiner MT). Refreshing and no unpleasantness anywhere, though it’s not one I’d spend a long time puzzling over the various tastes, either.

Very good stuff. Maybe I’m a little biased because its made in my home town, but I drink it all the time for whatever occasion.

Very enjoyable beer. I like it best in a frosty mug while cooking steaks outdoors. I first sampled this beer in Cooke City Montana at the edge of Yellowstone Park and the beer brings back that wonderful memory. Very distinct flavor, but certainly not overpowering. Great with a good meal. Enjoy!

Bottle. Nice example of a hefe this side of the pond. Nice head, very drinkable, only missing the sense of bubble gum. Perfect after a day "Trout Slaying".

Smells like candy corn. Nice malty taste without being cloying. Very unique.

Clear lightish golden yellow with a soft spongy white head about a finger high, fades to a skim always present til about mid-glass, lace in spots but most drips back in quickly with minimal amounts sticking. Smell is very soft and faint of light malts and sweet wheat, much like a piece of fresh wheat bread. Too bad its a light nose. Taste is quite subdued and mellow easy malts, soft breadyness and light wheat sweetness, quite simple yet heavenly so. Its light flavor is enticingly nice, like very light, soggy Chex cereal, with just a touch of crisp left to finish it off. Its not packed full of flavor, it lacks some depth, but whats there is quite nice and enjoyable. Feel is light, close to medium body, light creamy start, light crisp finish. This is good session material all the way.

Really good. Lots of fruit flavors and spices in this one, and it’s almost like an amber. But whatever it is. It’s a winner. My 2nd favorite Montana Beer to this date.
