12oz bottle poured into a mini willibecker glass. Pours [surprisingly] dark brown with a medium head. By looking at it I would guess its a Vienna or even Schwarz before Marzen. Head fades to a surface covering lacing. Aroma is toasty malt with some noble hop character and a mild wet brown bread. All very well melded, well attenuated, lagered malt sweetness. Flavor has more of the black bread touches and ends with a light lingering noble hop character. Perfectly clean, nice soft carbonation, sweetness from malt character only, very nice lagering. Clean, short aftertaste. This was a real surprise and a real treat.

Had at the Rhino. Dark brown, clear, frothy beige head. Aroma of nut, caramel, light roast. Taste is the same, solid beer, no off flavors and easy drinking.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a reddish brown/mahogany color with a nice two finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is mainly of sweeter caramel and molasses mixed with some notes of a roasted malt. Along with these smells are some lighter aromas of a darker fruit nature of plum with some other lighter notes of a grass and nut. Taste – The taste begins much less sweet then would have been anticipated form the nose. The flavor begins with a moderately roasted malt taste along with a light molasses flavor with some notes of coffee. Right from the start there is a bit of an earthy and grainy taste with these creating a base flavor for the brew. As the taste moves forward, some darker fruit flavors of plum and red grape come to the tongue, but these remain quite light. A little bit of a bitter walnut taste comes to the flavor at the very end, leaving one with a dark and slightly more bitter roasted flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer on the average side in both its thickness as well as its carbonation. For the darker flavors of the brew a little more thickness may have been slightly better, but overall the feel was pretty good. Overall – A decent roasted and slightly more bitter but somewhat still easy drinking marzen. Overall a pretty decent brew and not a bad one to try for yourself to see if it suits your style.

Bottle. Dark leathery brown pour with a thin creamy khaki head. Nose is sweet; malty, candied fruit, and light chocolate. Crisp mouthful slowly turns to a bready and chocolate malt finish. Yeast, light fruit presence, and some earthiness. Refreshing.

Fluffy head. Dark brown appearance. Nutty aroma. A little caramel malt poking through. Very subtle nut flavor, with some caramel sweetness, and a tinge of bitterness. As others have said - it’s straight-forward, without much to it. Very "clean" texture. Decent stuff.

Draft at NCBC. Pours a murky and very dark mahogany. Impressive coloration. Loose filmy tan head. Light sheety lace. Virtually no nose, good or bad. Creamy medium body with subdued carb. Light toasty caramel on the mid palate but not a lot of other flavors showing. Mild finish.

Bottle. Dark red brown pour with thin lasting head. Malty and caramelly aroma, fairly light. Light bodied with a quick finish. More malt. Not bad.

12 oz bottle - Pours a dark brown with a very thin head that sticks to the glass. Cereal and caramel aromas. Strong malt flavor. Good winter brew if you want something a little lighter but with some good fire side qualities.
