Would be okay for a summer brew, but as a Marzen and posing as a winter beer, way too thin, way too simple. There is a well cooked bitterness note that lingers, adds some interest.

[Bottle] Dark brown colored pour without any head on top. Nose is of cocoa powder and dusty malts. Caramel, hazelnut, milk chocolate, toasted bread and some molasses round out the flavor notes. Mild and relatively clean. Lingering sweet grain notes in the finish.

Dark red brown. Aroma of vineous/choco. Watery soy sauce flavor. More acidic than I’m used to in a beer. Savory.

Best by: unk Dark brown, must darker than most Marzen’s I’ve had. Etching of light foam. Smells fruit and malt, a little grape must. Flavor is malts, soil, dry, much less sweet tahn a typical marzen. Medium on light with low carb. An okay beer, but not something I lust for.

5000 (6239) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 26, 2013
Bottle:   Ruby in color, thin to moderate foamy tannish head, little lacing.   Soft biscuit and bready nose.   Heavy biscuit on the tongue, bready, slight cough syrup like qualities.   A bit too sweet and bready at times.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Hard to even finish a 12oz bottle of this.   Too bready, biscuity, sweet, and with too much cough syrup.

12 oz bottle - Pours a dark brown with a very thin head that sticks to the glass. Cereal and caramel aromas. Strong malt flavor. Good winter brew if you want something a little lighter but with some good fire side qualities.

Bottle. Dark leathery brown pour with a thin creamy khaki head. Nose is sweet; malty, candied fruit, and light chocolate. Crisp mouthful slowly turns to a bready and chocolate malt finish. Yeast, light fruit presence, and some earthiness. Refreshing.

Green apple like all of their beers on the nose caramel and some bread. Pours hazy golden amber. Thin head. Flavora of caramel and green apple. Tangy crisp hops. Unremarkable.

Bottle. Nice deep copper orange, frothy beige head. Low aroma of grainy caramel. Same flavours on the palate, grainy caramel, a little bready perhaps. Just okay.

Pours very dark with a tan head. Aroma of malt, a little nutty. Taste of malt, not particurally sweet. Kind of a cross between ’regular’ marzens, and a nut brown ale. I can’t really say I like it that much, despite wanting to. It is smooth and drinkable... I can’t really recommend it.
