Bottle: A vigorous pour left a minimal white head atop a pale copper body. Light aroma is sweet, mostly caramel, but some fruit and toast also emerges. Caramel malt and candied fruit flavor, with very little grass or florals. Easy to drink with no single element taking center stage. Falls nicely into the amber lager style, imo. It’s been fun trying to track down this elusive St. Paddy’s day release for the past four years, but the chase was more exciting then the catch.

12 oz bottle thanks to my brother and sister-in-law. Pours clear copper with a dissipating white head that falls into a ring of foam; half way through the glass all traces of head and foam disappear. Aroma consists of yeasty dough, vinegar (sour ale-ish, weird), caramel. Taste is caramel sweet and a little sour with a little dry bitterness coming up in the finish. Along with the dominant caramel flavor, biscuity flavors intermingle with some graininess. Creamy mouthfeel with average carbonation. Overall, a weird and boring beer at the same time.

Sent by Hayduke and enjoyed together via facebook chat. This beer pours a mostly clear dark copper, almost red. My glass had a very short lived head but Ron’s warmed bottle poured with more. The nose was complex fruit and nuts. Nice and not at all "lager" like. The flavor was also quite pleasant. That nice complex fruit again, nuts, caramel, and some chocolate. A general sourness was tasted throughout. Maybe it was the name and hence psychological, but this had an authentic "irish" feel to it. Cool. Lagers often don’t deserve the bad name they get and this is an example. Nicely done.

Bottle. Clear coppery red amber. Aroma is muted caramel with hints of chocolate. Flavour is straightforward caramel, definite nutty character, hints of chocolate. Finish is short and dry.

Bottle served in a flare pilsner. 2011 vintage, new label. Pours clear amber-brown in color with a medium-short, creamy off-white head that holds. Malty aroma of dark fruit, pepper, and spice. Not overly complex, but solid intensity. Smooth, light bitter and sweet flavors. Medium-light body, lively carbonation, soft texture, and a light bittersweet finish. Great beer to session on St. Patty’s Day.

Pours clear ruby amber with a thick foamy beige head that leaves streaky lacing. Aroma of oats, toasted biscuity caramel malts. Taste is sweet with lots of toasted malts again and a slightly bitter burnt finish. Very good flavor, medium thick body, carbonation is a little high but it really gets that thick malty flavor to sink in. I was very surprised by this one and could drink it anytime.
