Bayern Maibock is the typical Bavarian spring-opener with lots of body and more. The color is golden brown and if you like malt flavor, this is it. Bayern Maibock is very malty and very easy to drink! This beer is brewed with two-row Harrington and Munich malt, has a moderate amount of Hallertauer and Saaz hops and an alcohol content of >6.5% alc. by vol. (starting gravity > 16 degrees Plato o.g.). Bayern Maibock is available in limited quantities on draft and in bottles. Please don’t underestimate its potency and don’t drive after enjoying Maibock.

12oz bottle. Best before June 2016. Poured into a Schlenkerla mini (25cl) willibecker glass. Darker than expected color. A clear amber brown. Carbonation bubbles travel through the beer for a while. I again have no idea what wonderfulness Bayern is pulling off but the strong malty and clean aroma is making me swoon. Carmel yet super clean sweet malts and just a bit of noble hop on the nose, less so in the flavor. Not much more to say, its simple yet awesome.

This beer is damn fine. I don’t understand the mediocre rating. Delicious aroma and flavor.

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, toasted malt and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, toasted malt and a hint of fruitiness with a smooth dry lingering toasted malt finish.

Bottle from New Frontier Market, Eugene. Pours a darker translucent orange amber, essentially no head. Slight biscuit/pilsner aspect to the nose. Body light and somewhat lively, finish sticky sweet, grassy, spicy, pineapple. Interesting, but not my thing.

Draught. Pours a clear amber color with very little head on there. Nose is very malt forward, but pretty light. Slight bits of caramel and toast coming through, with a hop bite. Taste is slightly sweet up front, with that bitter bite to it, and a touch of caramel throughout.

Dark amber pour little white head. Smells of sour dough and caramel malt. Flavor all malt to the floor. Not as sweet or syrupy as you might expect and well balanced out with a firm bitter finish. Light carb nice mid body.

Bottle: Pours a clear, copper/orange with a modest beige head. Sweet aroma is grassey with a bit of dough. Flavors is also sweet, but earhthy and some faint bitters. The higher abv is apparent, but not overwhelming. A nice version of the style.

This beer pours a rich golden color. Not much aroma but what is there is slightly sweet. Sweet taste true to the style.

Pours hazy copper with a centimeter of off-white head. Smell is bready with a bit of caramel. Taste is lager, dough/bread. Medium bodied. Drinkable. Bit of an astringent aftertaste. Ok.
