3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Angeloregon (2054) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 16, 2008
12 ounce bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a thin orange-amber hue with a medium white head. Wheaty nose with some grainy malty toffee. Flat out middle of the road malts in the finish. Flavor was mild and kind of boring. Still not too bad.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 bhensonb (7575) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 5, 2007
Aroma of medium malt. Nice amber color with an ephemeral white head. It starts a bit thin bodied. Moderate carbonation. The initial is a somewhat watery sweetness, and as the fluid leaves there is a surge of medium dark malt flavor. No burnt, no roast, just malt. There does not seem to be much hop until way into the finish. This is all about malt.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Dubbercody (213) - Vancouver, Washington, USA - JUL 19, 2006
Hazy dark amber brew with quickly disapating head. Malt smacks you about the face when you get your nose anywhere near it.
Best served at 46-48 degrees is listed on the bottle, and i can’t agree more. It’s fantastic when on the cooler side, but gets a bit, overpowering when it warms. Even when it’s cold, the malt wants to stick to the roof of your mouth.
Worth the $3.99 for the 6 pack I found on sale.
2.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 spikester (602) - Salem, Oregon, USA - APR 18, 2008
This could be the finest Heller-Bock beer in the world. I have no recollection of ever drinking a H.B. A well made, malty concoction from the great state of Montana. If you want a craft brewed take on a Killians Red this might be your answer. Overall: too sweet for my blood , more alcohol than I need. If you like sweet, malty and plenty of abv. give it a try.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 ABUSEDGOAT (1937) - California, USA - JUL 20, 2008
Golden orange colored, moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is heavy on grain, with some alcohol and sugaryness. Light caramel and hops as well. Medium bodied, grainy, rough finish with some alcohol. Sloppy IMO.

Pours a medium brown. Aromas caramel and hops. Flavor is malty without a lot of character.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 12, 2009
Grainy golden color with a small foamy white head, that seems to have the starting signs of good retention. Malty, albeit somewhat chalky and grainy. Semi-sweet but not artifical tasting on the palate, some citrus, with some bready caramel notes. not extremely well balanced and probably not something I would seek out again, but not horrible.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Smurf2055 (380) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 4, 2012
Pours hazy copper with a centimeter of off-white head. Smell is bready with a bit of caramel. Taste is lager, dough/bread. Medium bodied. Drinkable. Bit of an astringent aftertaste. Ok.
2.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Powertrip (841) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 25, 2010
Colour: Golden red. Nose: Over-ripe corn, wet dog, sticky sweet syrup. Blah. Taste: Sweet early malt, peaches and cream combined with rich cherry in the middle, late sweetness but controlled. Terrible nose is saved by a moderate taste and nice appearence but overall this one falls short.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 brenn79 (922) - Idaho, USA - OCT 21, 2011
12 oz. bottle- I hope this isn’t old, these are supposed to come out in May, right? Pours clear red amber with a thin soapy white head, aroma is dirty syrupy malt, caramel. The taste is all caramel malt, but not as good as it sounds, kind of sickly sweet. The body is thin, carbonation is medium low. It tastes like a sweeter version of an Oktoberfest.
