oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Dec 28, 2005 Pours a nice golden yellow. Aromas of malts, hops. Crisp hop bitterness and dry finish. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 25, 2005 12oz bottle labeled best before Oct. ’05. Poured a lighter and slightly hazy golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of we grass, grain, banana and somewhat fruity. Tastes of banana, grain and a little doughy. The body was stronger compared to the other Pilsners of late (may have been the doughy/breadiness to it). DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 29, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Belmont Station in Portland, OR) Best before October, 2005, so I’m within their window. This is supposed to be a crisp, hoppy pilsener, but it smells sweet and somewhat caramely, reminiscent of a light Oktoberfest, and oddly, shows a touch of alcohol in the nose as well. Similarly, in the flavor, it’s sweet, lightly caramely and a bit bready. It’s also mildly bitter and grassy, but never hints at anything I’d consider "hoppy". In addition, there are some other odd flavors that seem kind of floral, but I just can’t identify what I’m tasting. Medium bodied, so it’s even a bit heavier than most pilseners I’ve tried, and it doesn’t really approach the crispness the brewery claims. Pale golden in color, somewhat hazy in appearance, but the off-white head pours very small and quickly fades to a tiny ring, leaving no lacing. A very strange pilsener with some unidentifiable flavors, but that doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable. But I think this beer shares as much in common with an Oktoberfest as it does with a pilsener, maybe even moreso, actually. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Aug 18, 2005 Tap. Clear, medium golden/yellow colored. Not much head formation, just a layer of bubbles, no lacing. Aroma is lightly grainy, just a touch of noble hop, slightly grassy. Light malt up front, fair bitterness in the middle and finish. Clean. LIghter bodied, seriously undercarbonated. Fair. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA Aug 11, 2005 Nice golden color, small white head that had a decent but short lived head.Nice hoppy aroma with a mild malt side and even a mild fruitside but it might be pushing it a bit.The flavor was nothing special but decent enough.Slightly sweet in a way with a decent hop presence and mild malt side but over all not worth getting bent out of shape over.Try it once and see if it’s worth going further. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Aug 6, 2005 Bottle. Pours a medium golden color. Grainy, slightly sour aroma. Flavor is quite grain with a bit of sourness and maybe a hint of malts. LiebeBier (788), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Jul 6, 2005 Draft - I found this beer to be well done. Nice malty flavor, crisp finish. Perfectly hoppy. Excellent beer in the German style. Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA May 30, 2005 Yellow to orange with quickly dissapating foam, though convincing looking initially. Nice noble hop and bready malt aroma, pretty smooth with a nice balance of czech like maltiness and bavarian hoppiness. Perfectly serviceable pils.
