4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at the brewery taproom; Poured in the traditional slow style (nice!), this has a classice German visual appeal -- golden grain, bubbly, with a nice bright poofy head. Sharp hoppy aroma. Silky smooth and sharply, almost puckeringly, bitter. Classic German pils, reminiscent of a good ol’ Bitburger stubie. (#2929, 5/19/2007)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Hazy gold with thin white head. Really ugly for a pils. Nice hoppy aroma with malt backbone. Malty flavour with hoppy bite. Pleasing finish. This is a tasty ugly looking pilsener.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle, via kyzr. Pours a crystal clear light gold colored body under a very thin fizzy white head that immediately vanished. The aroma is very light, just a bit of bready pils malt, a little bit of grassiness, and a hint of DMS. Fairly crisp flavor with just a hint of DMS on the finish. Light bitterness level. Mouthfeel is light bodied and thin with a fairly crisp finish. Moderate lively carbonation that’s appropriate for the style. This wasn’t half bad, not the most exciting beer, but still enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very nice, crisp, full flavored, hoppy pilsener. Possibly the best American-made craft brewed pilsener I’ve had to-date. The hops really made this for me, which were very up-front and bitter, but with a clean finish that didn’t overwhelm the palate. Maybe a little heavy for the style, but a very good beer nontheless.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bright yellow. Light but balanced aroma of continental hops and pale malt. Herbal hops, moderate bitterness, and light pale malt flavour. Reminds me of Veltins.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2008 Bottled. Pours a clear pale gold with a diminishing white head. Not much aroma but some flowery hops, hay and biscuit can be found. The body is light and a bit watery with medium carbonation. The taste is bread and toffee with a crisp pine/floral finish that turns a bit toward soap at the end of the glass.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2006 I had this beer on tap at The Bier Stein several weeks ago, and enjoyed it so much I had another. I concur with the reviewer whose experience with the bottled version was not as good.
The beer pours pretty standard golden with firm white head. Sweet flowery perfume aroma with malty undertones of caramel and almonds.
The beer is full and clean on the palate, and goes down crisp and easy without excessive aftertaste, although there is some grain flavor in the finish. It’s a not a classic example of the style, but I like the direction they took this one. Unfortunately, the beer was not as enlightening in the bottle as it was on tap.
