40oz (182), Newport Beach, California, USA Oct 3, 2002 Had a duce-duce of this stuff after a three mile fundraising walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation so the ETOH was quickly sucked into my parched brain. Dark reddish brown with a thin dark tan head. Toasted malt aroma. Watery, roasted, black coffee, sour taste. As indicated in the other reviews, hard to detect any chocolateness.
rkuhnel (1195), Eureka, California, USA Nov 26, 2008 From a 22 oz bottle this poured dark brown with moderate tan head and some lacing. Nose is of roasted malts and some chocolate but there are some additional odd odors in there. Mouthfeel is light for a porter. Flavor is simply odd and not very nice.Regretfully this was too bad to finish. It is not often I pour beer out but I could not drink this stuff. Swalden28 (710), McKinney, Texas, USA Oct 15, 2008 Updated: Oct 26, 2008Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKiney, TX. Pours a dark brown with ruby hues.
Aroma of some chocolate and dark roast, and vinegar???? Flavor is somewhat a tangy bitter, too much sour tang, faint chocolate at the end with slight dark roast. Mouthfeel is light-med. with med-high carbonation...Overall, something is wrong with this....not enjoyable....The worst porter I have had.. danielcurtis81 (261), San Diego, California, USA Oct 15, 2008 Getting my notebook online. Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aromas off, almost vinegarish. Taste not a whole lot better. Very muddled chocolate and malts. Not good. hopscotch (4678), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle... Clear, very dark beer (copper when held up to bright light) with a mid-sized khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is sort of lactic and funky with some roastiness; I think I smell a bug. Medium-bodied with average carbonation. Lactic acid in the tart, Flemish flavor. Some bitterness and roastiness; very little sweetness. Crisp, tangy finish. Rogueone (410), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 Thanks for sharing Mark: Ummm.... if there was ever a market for sour chocolate, this beer would corner it.
