Brea Claim Jumper. Color was hazy yellow, don’t remember much head. Tasted much like a wit beer, and not a hefeweizen. Ok for that style, but nothing special.

On tap at Bar Louie’s in Anaheim. Cloudy gold colour with a decent enough head and a fruit and spice aroma. In the mouth it was quite thin. Tasted okay but it was served in a glass straight out of the fridge which didn’t help.

on tap, cloudy yellow with white foam, aroma and flavor are very bland and lifeless, very artificial and medicinal for some reason

Draft. An unclear golden beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as lighter notes of lemon and berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and wheat, as well as lighter notes of banana and over ripe fruits.

A fair Hefewizen, though not much to write home about. Very light notes of citrus and an odd, unenjoyable finish.

Tap at Claim Jumper. Really just a god awful attempt at the style. Massive amateur effort. The description at the restaurant said it was hopped with NZ hops. No freaking way. Smells and tastes like it was fermented in a urinal. Disgusting. The high point of this beer is that it looks cloudy and glowing yellow. After that, it is downhill with massive sulphur, urine. Really no hefe yeast presence at all. Is this just wort? Could pass for N/A.

Sample, from bottle. Light in color, lightly cloudy. Aroma is wheat forward, not getting all that much banana or clove esters. Flavor is mild, again, the wheat shows most prominent. A hint of sweetness in the middle. Not one of Bayhawk’s more interesting beers.

A: The beer itself is a fairly decent looking one: hazy golden in color with a nice white head on top. However, the beer is served with a slice of lemon--penalty flag there. S: The nose is what I feared: tart wheat and lemon with a bit of a cereal note. T: The flavor is grainy and heavy on the wheat with that same lemony tartness. There is a slight toasted flavor which is about the only redeeming quality of the beer. I suppose if I squeezed the lemon in there, it could have been a "sour". M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation. One of the better aspects of the beer. D: I don’t understand why American breweries insist on not only making this style of beer, but also calling it a "hefeweizen". I didn’t even finish my taster of this.

Pours a hazy yellow with slight orange tint. Aroma of citrus, especially orange. Tastes very light to almost watery. Not a good everyday hefeweizen, just okay.

From tap at Yard House in San Diego as Blue Hawaiian Primo Hefeweizen. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity, oranges andlight hoppy note. Flavour is sweet orange fruity. Light bitter and mild acidic flavoured finish. Simple and light fruity.

On tap @ Claim Jumpers in La Mesa: Served with a wedge of lemon which I wasn’t even given an option if I wanted one or not but it did help make this beer a tad bit more drinkable. Aroma is faint and simple with minimum amount of grains for smell. Appearance is a cloudy glowing yellow and thin white creamy head. The flavor was empty and lacked real substance to qualify this beer as a German hefe but I quickly quaffed it down to get it off my table and not let it ruin the rest of my dinner.
