COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tribute to Dorothy L. Sayers’ fictional detective and Wimsey the Bloodhound’s namesake. Both the sleuth and the hound possess a nose for getting to the bottom of things. As with our other ales, this mild is made with only the finest malts and hops, never filtered, and is bottle conditioned. Best served in a proper pint glass.

Poured from a cold bottle. Bottle was a gusher. Cloudy light brown and orange color, huge off white head. Fruit hops and yeast smell. Slight sour metallic and yeast flavor.

Bottle. Pours amber with a small, off-white head. Bready malt and light earthy hop aromas with a hint of fruitiness. Flavors of moderate bread malts, light earthy hops and a hint of fruit. Strange herbal finish.

651mL at Campdown Brewdown. Hazy orange tea pour. Nose is celery and tomato. Taste is mega sweet tomato and sugar. Gross. Very bad. Similar to my first batch of homebrew. Mega vegetal character. Minerally. Very amateur effort here.

Bomber. Cloudy orange with bubbly head. Lots of carbonation and a finish that lasts forever. Fragrant hoppy aroma and moderate bitter taste but much more in the finish. Decent beer but palate is a little rough.

Weird ammonia and chlorine smell, burned toast and plastic as well. Cloudy amber, thick sticky yellow head. I seldom pour a beer out, but this had vegetal and chlorophenolic infections. I couldn’t finish it.

Bottle @ 18th RG. Everyone says it s infected. Smells like chlorinated water. Gusher. Tastes like chlorinated water, too.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from Total Wine Sterling. It pours a dark orange with a frothy head of off white foam. The nose has a little fruitiness, a little rotten egg, and a slight spiced note. Floral then bitter then bready on the tongue. Odd perfume notes come out after a couple minutes. It has a weird lingering bitterness with a light to medium body and bristling carbonation. The finish is dry, long, and lightly bitter. Is a 6% beer really a mild? I don’t think so but these days a name is just a name. It’s a little quizzical but not terrible.

Drake (8563) - Free Union, Virginia, USA - AUG 7, 2011
Bomber from Capital Beer and Wine in Bethesda, MD, opened 6/13/11. Someone gets a big old FAIL in the quality control department, as I just cleaned about half of this one off my floor. Hazy, murky orange color with, obviously, a large head. Aroma of spicy and peppery hops, caramel and a bit of band-aid. The taste is citrus hops and caramel. Spicy hop finish. Medium bodied.
