COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Style
Biere de Mars is a centuries old, French farmhouse seasonal brew. Released every March and traditionally crafted with the farm’s freshest crop of barley, wheat and hops, these brewers spent months aging what was considered their finest beer of the year.

Story
Bayou Teche Brewing’s Courir de Mardi Gras is our artisanal version of this French ale. Biere de Mars is historically crafted with Pilsner, Munich, and a large dose of wheat malt that lends the beer a distinct, Spring-like quality. Our Courir de Mardi Gras is seasonally brewed for pre-Lenten celebrations.

Bottle from Kensington Liquor. Pours orangey copoper with almost no head. Aroma has fruits, some spices and some earth. Taste is of sweet light fruits, some lemon, some tangy spice, and some grainy-ness. Light to medium bodied without really much going for it. Finishes lightly fruity and short. Shrug? Not offensive, but nothing to recommend either. 10.7

Bottled. Poured clear, light-medium golden with a short, well-retained white head. The aroma picked up bready malts with light vegetal accents.. some honeysuckle on the back of the nose.. not really offensive, but it didn’t do much for me. The flavor found honey and bready malts at the core, with light spices and some tacky stuff around.. heavy carbonation bunched it up in places.. kind of hard to swallow in the end. Light-medium bodied, with too much carbonation.. this seemed off.. not super unpleasantly off, but I-don’t-want-to-drink-any-more off.

Amber pour. Nose of adjunct, corn, and hot grainy alcohol. Flavor is corn, malt liquor and a little cough syrup.

355ml bottle. Amber gold pour. Smells like dog and chlorine. Flavor is werid, corny grain, wintergreen, apple juice, weird.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2015 12oz bottle. Another weak offering from Bayou Teche. Off garbage aroma. More a a Saison than a Bierre de Garde, there is a pronounced spicy, peppery yeast character. Other than that pretty some wheat and golden malt. And the off tones. Poorly made ( looking at you, Lazy Magnolia) undesirable product. Amateur hour brewing.

Avenue Pub, new orleans tap: pours light amber with a white head. Aroma is sugar, some yeast, and ambiguous fruitiness. Taste is a bit sweet, but not too much. I think that there is some unneccesary hate going on this beer. It is not too complex, but it is still not bad.

Bottle from my recent trip to NO for an SGA conference. It is a good thing to try the local beers but sometimes you come out on the wrong end. The less said about this, the better. Bland, muddy flavors. Would never have been able to name the style if it wasn’t on the bottle.

Bottle. Aroma has almost nothing to it, a bit of cut grass. The taste is pretty light, some caramel and toffee, but mostly has a bad, malty taste. 6% alcohol.

Bottle shared with jackl. Crystal clear golden amber color, almost flat. Aroma of light straw. Taste is boozy straw, lightly toasted caramel.
