A nice aroma of roasted malt, a rich dark brown colour with a transient well laced head. Taste disappoints very mld almost tasteless with just a hint of coffee. A very weak watery palate mildly astringent.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
FROM NOTES - June 27, ’12
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Hill Farmstead tulip.
A: Pours a dark molasses with a short beige head that dissipates quickly to a ring.
S: Deep, sweet aroma, with a roasted caramel and brown sugar. Hints of a bread and grain notes.
T: Bitter, roasty, smokey malt base that finishes with a small amount of hop bite.
M: Nice carbonation with an overall light/medium mouth-feel.
O: Total mixed bag here, complexity was nice, wish there was a bit more of a hop bite I dig with a schwarzbier.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours stout black-brown with ample foam. Only faintly sweet toasted malts (and maybe some roast) come through in the nose. Taste is decent, initially sweet and dark, but then somewhat hollow and seemingly underattenuated. Tastes a bit like decent homebrew. Not a strong offering, but not awful.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap, NOLA International Beer Festival Fest 2012. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy brown head. The nose is a little sweet with some chocolate and a touch of graininess. The flavor is a little too thin maybe and a touch husky with toasty and light chocolate notes, minimal bitterness on the finish. Lighter bodied, a touch thin, soft fizzy carbonation. OK, not a standout, but drinkable. Comes across like a light Porter.
