2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a light amber color with a slight orange hue. Aroma is floral with a hoppy nose. Taste is a little bitter but has a doughy aftertaste left on the tongue after the swallow. Overall a decent American pale ale that I was glad to try in New Orleans.

Drank from snifter poured from 12 oz glass. Good hop profile. Almost seems like an ipa, but very good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Seaside, Fl - Modica Market - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour, light but sticky off-white head, a bit of lacing. Aroma has a slight funk, some toffee sweetness. Flavor has a trace of caramel, some home-brewed crystal malt, a bit of toffee but an odd aftertaste leaves a bad taste in my mouth which dampens my enthusiasm for it.

Very decent pale ale. Light bodied and light of appearance. A nice, subtle pine and citrus aroma and a crisp mouthfeel with decent carb. Tried at Mulates in Breaux Bridge.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Cajun Cabin. Pours pale gold with a medium, off-white head. The aroma is lemons, hay, mozzarella, and vanilla. The flavor is citrus sweetness and a little bitterness. The aftertaste is mildly bitter and fades quickly. The palate is light to medium, effervescent, and crisp, but a little astringent. This is a light and funky pale ale, but nothing special.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Oh, I picked up a six pack of their smoked wheat at Rouse’s while I was in New Orleans. I get all the way back home with four beers remaining to discover there are two pale ales in there. Those sneaky bastards. . .I suppose this reinforces my idea that Bayou Tech is releasing sub par beers. I like the idea behind these two beers I’ve tried, but the execution is not exactly tasty. The biere pale has a faint grassy hop quality and a bit of buttery biscuits with a dash of caramel. However there are metallic notes that I also found quite heavy in the Boucanee and something that I can only describe as glue. Lactic sourness is again apparent. The fact that the passable hop flavor is prominent saves this from being a complete wreck, but it’s just not a great beer at the end of the day.
