Dark orange pour from draft at kingfish in New Orleans. Very smokey. Carmel and nutty notes too but the smokey over powers everything

The beer has a very light amber color to it that is slightly hazy. The beer has very little head to it and no lacing on the glass. The beer has a definite charred wood smokey scent to it that disappates to a mild wheat smell. The beer tastes okay with a definite wheat taste up front but then gives away to a smokey aftertaste. The mouthfeel is somewhat weak with a smokey residue lingering around and the beer is poorly carbonated. Overall, this is definitely a smoked beer but offers very little else in way of taste or quality.

Bayou Teche Boucanee’ has a very thick, foamy, cream-colored head, a clear, bubbly, copper appearance, and slight lacing left behind. The aroma is of an overriding smokiness with an undercurrent of sweetness and wheat bread. Taste is of wood smoke, caramel, sugar, and a touch of bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Bayou Teche Boucanee’ finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and semi-dry. Overall, it’s very smoky and not like a wheat beer. I think it is good and interesting. RJT

Amber to brown with a thin lacing of white head. Aroma is a little musty and sweet with notes of smoke. Flavor is a little overly sweet with a touch of smoke and a light body. Not as bad as some are saying, but not excellent. Decent with smoky food off the grill. Wife: 2.8

Bottle from Hopscotch. Pours hazy amber with a medium off white head. The aroma is malty and sourish smoked. High carbonation. Smoked sour flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

New Beer Distributors, NY 12oz ($2ish): Pours a bronze color with a whitish head. Aroma is smoked meat for the most part, without too much of the what being present. Taste is basically a light smoked ale. Everything is done just fine and it is plenty sessionable. I ain’t have no problem with this.

Comes out of the growler a dark honey-golden, almost mahogany, a little hazy, with a fairly thick light tan head. Malty aroma has an overtone of smoky barbecue and a hint of honey. Flavor has firm smoky and malty tones with a honey hint. Firm, smooth texture has a good tingle to it and leaves a smoky barbecue-ish finish. Enjoy, but don’t get too "smoked"!

Wanted something around five percent to go with my Friday work lunch. This beer was abominably bad. Poured a light brown color with white head. Maybe I don’t understand the concept behind a smoked beer, but if it is supposed too mimic drinking a campfire, I think I can do without this style. Not a good beer. Draft - Leon’s - Decatur, GA

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow orange color with a ring of white head. Aroma is band aid, smoky phenols, wheat and maybe some sweet notes. Flavor is not as harsh as expected but it has some certain smoky notes. More peated. Still a light band aid flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
