Nice smoky, malty aroma from a clear amber pour. The flavor is smoky malt with a nice bitter balance. A little thin at the end and maybe a bit too much carbonation, but not bad.

Bottle. Dark brown, small to medium mostly diminishing head. Moderate malty and lightly sweetish aroma with light roasted malt, light sourness and faint smokiness. Body is light to medium, flavor is light roasted malt with light sweetness. Finish is short to average malty - faint wheat and dryish., light roasted malt and faint smokiness, light sourness. bBt thin-bodied "rauch bier" - could use more body and smokiness. Not so sweet, though.

Thx to me mom for this one. Smoke wheat herb lemon orange candy aroma. The smoke isn’t quite hickory liquid smoke but it leans in that direction. I really dig this aroma. The taste is average at best but totally drinkable. Wheat smoke and lots of smoke finish with a light citrus in and out finish. Toasty malts and smoothness. Drank it and bored of reviewing today.

bottle thanks to americanbrew. amber pour with a cream colored ring of bubbles. smoke, wheat, lemon, spices, light beef. very smooth on the palate, flavor is wheat, lemon, maybe some smoke, it really comes through in the finish, but is kinda overpowered by spice.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark copper body with a minimal fizzy off-white head that faded to a partial covering. The nose is pretty decent, nice campfire smokiness, though it’s fairly light, with some darker wheat, slightly earthy. The flavor is a mix of rauch malt and earthy wheat with some light yeast esters. Medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Not quite smoky enough for my tastes, but then I love Smoked beers.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Bit of a weird one really. Fairly pale amber colour. Smoke is quite apparent in the aroma and flavour but there wasn’t really much else going on. Not much depth or body. Not enough presence to provide a counterpoint to the smoke for me. So it came over as a bit one-dimensional with the underlying beer being somewhat submerged. Apparently it’s a wheat beer underneath but I wouldn’t have guessed and that seems a slightly strange combination with the smoke (unless, of course, you start off with a gutsy one).

Cajun (180) - Lafayette, Louisiana, USA - NOV 7, 2011
Bottle (from Ambassador Wine and Spirits in Lafayette, LA) - I rated this for what it was: a smoked beer... and not for what I prefer. Pours orangish amber with small offwhite head. The first note of aroma is of a BBQ pit, smokey and a hint of tang, and not much else in the way of smell. However, the flavors of SMOKE, a hint of tangy and sweet, with a touch of hops afterwards are more complex than at first sip. As far as smoked beers this is very good. I, personally, would use it in cooking more than I would for drinking, BUT there are many occasions where this would pair well with many different foods, especially cheese.

Poured into a pint glass from a bottle bought at the local grocery. Color is orange to amber with small head that dissappeared quickly. Carbonation looks good. Aroma is interesting, but the center is full of plastic smokiness. Taste is an odd mix at first, wheat, hint of cherry, but then all reverts to burnt plastic medicinal flavor. I want to like this beer, but I cannot finish the bottle. I usually enjoy a smoked beer, but this one tastes too plastic-like for me.

Hazy amber beer, no real head. Tangy orange and orange peel. A little smoke provides an odd juxtaposition! Dry finish. Alright!

Got this beer from a southern friend of mine. I love the smokey aroma and the bacon-like taste. There’s a little bit of bitterness and it is really "one note" on the smokey-side, but I found this beer incredibly tasty.
