COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Growing wild on our grandfather’s farm fences and in the tree lines all around our Arnaudville home, we have consumed a lot of fresh passion fruit through the years. The vines still grow abundantly around our family’s crawfish pond and behind the brewery, along the banks of the Bayou Teche. When they are in season, after a hard days work, we look forward to sitting in the shade of a large oak tree on that bayou’s bank, enjoying the pulpy fruit till we nearly make ourselves sick. When they arrived in Acadiana, our French-speaking ancestors discovered the passion fruit growing here and named it grenade (pronounced grruh-nod). We still call it that today, the fruit’s juice has a refreshingly tropical, guava-like, sweet/tart flavor. Grenade is our wheat beer, which we brew to quench Acadiana’s warm weather thirsts. The ale is the color of a South Louisiana sun, and pours with the bright citrus flavor of passion fruit. It’s hot out. Find the shade of a large moss-drenched oak tree on a bayou near you, relax and enjoy a bottle. Welcome to beer drinkers’ paradise.

Bottle, thanks to my brother. Rich gold colored brew with a bright white head. A nose of the passion fruit and raw dough. There is also a little hint of nuts. The taste has sweet alomnds with just a hint of tropical fruit. There is also some note of yeasty raw dough in the finish. Actually kind of tasty.

Light and refreshing with nice fruity aroma and taste without being too syrupy or cloyingly sweet. Not much of the wheat comes through but works pretty well none the less.

I found this in a Winn Dixie in Long Beach MS which is more of a beer waste land than my home of South Jersey. This beer pours a clear light amber with a small head. The aroma has the characteristics of a nice wheat ale. The flavor also is wheat ale. The fruit comes through in the after taste. Sweet and sour with a tropical taste. Very nice.

12 ounce bottle that pours a dark orange almost amber color with a big white fluffy/soapy head. Aromas of bubblegum, pale wheat, mild tropical fruit and a touch of sweetness. Flavor is a bland wheat, with some passion fruit added in. Not overpowering, but a decent blending of the two.

Bottle sampled at the Pig. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is vaguely fruity, a bit sweet. Flavor is peach (wouldn’t have guessed it was passion fruit), not much wheat, lightly malty. Light mouthfeel. Good summer beer. Bonus points for subtle use of fruit. Demerits for nonetheless not being that interesting.

Bottle - pours a deep gold with no head. Detected what seemed like a grapefruit flavor but maybe it was peaches. Has a thin mouthfeel and a clean finish. I haven’t had enough fruit beers to compare it to but it didn’t do much for me.

12oz bottle. Yellow-orange with an oily residue of a head. Light bodied, pretty insipid beer. The passion fruit doesn’t really come through that overbearingly. Drinkable and refreshing, has some nice mellow tropical tones that grow on you, as well as some vanilla wheat. Overall pretty unimpressive, but certainly sessionable and not off.

(12oz bottle thanks to Mora2000) clearish gold with fine white bubbles. Nose is tropical fruit, wheat, and sweet. Taste is tropical, dry, wheat, nice fruit flavor, perhaps some pineapple. Dry finish that’s quite carbonated.
