Growing wild on our grandfather’s farm fences and in the tree lines all around our Arnaudville home, we have consumed a lot of fresh passion fruit through the years. The vines still grow abundantly around our family’s crawfish pond and behind the brewery, along the banks of the Bayou Teche. When they are in season, after a hard days work, we look forward to sitting in the shade of a large oak tree on that bayou’s bank, enjoying the pulpy fruit till we nearly make ourselves sick.
When they arrived in Acadiana, our French-speaking ancestors discovered the passion fruit growing here and named it grenade (pronounced grruh-nod). We still call it that today, the fruit’s juice has a refreshingly tropical, guava-like, sweet/tart flavor.
Passionné is our wheat beer, which we brew to quench Acadiana’s warm weather thirsts. The ale is the color of a South Louisiana sun, and pours with the bright citrus flavor of passion fruit.
It’s hot out. Find the shade of a large moss-drenched oak tree on a bayou near you, relax and enjoy a bottle. Welcome to beer drinkers’ paradise.

The beer pours a hazy amber color with a small white head that fades quickly to a white ring. The aroma blends passion fruit, acidity, Belgian yeast, and a hint of wheat. The taste is mildly sour and a touch sweet with a puckering aftertaste that is paired with some weird yet thin tartness on the tongue. The palate fuses a medium body, thin and slick texture, and an average carbonation.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Stamped Best By 11/2/14. Ok it ,looks alright with its pale yellow color and quick lasting fizzy white head. But after that it does not appeal to me much. Probably simply the style. Aroma of passion fruit and maybe a touch of malts. Light body. The taste is way too fruity for me. It tastes more like a fruit drink rather than a beer. There is this odd peat moss after effect.

Bottle at home. Pours a yellowish gold with a thin white head. Aroma is slight wheat and slightly fruity. Flavor follows. Nice refreshing beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear, lightly amber and definitely golden coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre off-white head that fades like a soda. Aroma of malt, wine cooler, light fruit and a touch of caster sugar - nothing interesting. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour with hints of earth, caramel, nuts and a touch of fruits, perhaps a smattering of passionfruit, but not much there. Aftertaste shows a malty kick, some light alcohol and a touch of sugars, but not much else and no definite passionfruit flavour anywhere around. Overall, a pretty bad beer with not much flavour and no complexity at all - a very simplex beer throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 01-November-2013 for US$2,25 sampled at home in Washington on 05-September-2014.

Drank on 23 Aug 2014 -- Poured into a Kolsch glass (whatever their proper name is). This was a very pleasant beer that paired extremely well with our Tuna appetizer.

Bottle pours gold, thin head. Some hay and malt in nose... Faint citrus. Taste is plain... Some malt and fruit. Nothing over complicated or overbearing.... Light body that feels this at times.

Best by 01/14/14 Golden in the glass, neutral nose. The beer starts also very neutral. Where is the passion fruit? Smooth, hints of wheat. The mainpart is a bit more intense, but all aroma is very subtle. Nothing special or remarkable. In the end there are hints of fruitiness - probably the passion fruit here. On the tongue remains a wheat-ale like smooth aroma, nearly no hops, together with hints of sour passion fruit.
All in all very disappointing. No deep aroma, nearly no passion fruit, nothing remarkable. --> 7/11/6/7

Bottle. Golden, clear, cap of white foam. Sweet grainy aroma and flavour. Nearly no fruit character to speak of. Odd. Not good.
