Loup Garou is the Cajun French phase for a werewolf and is also Bayou Teche Brewing’s limited edition, Belgian inspired Imperial Stout. Crafted with an insane amount of chocolate roasted Belgian malts, brown sugars and French hops, our stout is then aged on oak for several months. Loup Garou is just around 8% ABV and will be released in 22 oz. Belgian-style bottles and a very limited number of kegs.

Avenue Pub, New Orleans tap to a to-go cup: Pours oil with brown head that leaves everlasting lacing. Yes, this does stain. Aroma is milky chocolate, molasses, wood, tons of sugar. Taste is somewhat sweet with relatively little bitterness. Loads of chocolate and wood as well. Good.

Bottle courtesy of me. Black color, brown head. Stains the glass, in a good way, I guess. Aroma of rich Dark chocolate. Taste is cocoa and coffee grounds.

Bottle. Deep black body with dark tan sheen. Rich dark chocolate, tobacco, dark coffee, smoke, light ash aromas. Smooth soft mouthfeel. Nice dark chocolate, lightly tart dark fruit flavors with espresso coffee, tobacco, vanilla___lingering dry black malt finish----very good.

This was a pretty decent stout, it is not as thick as I would have expected, pours pitch black with a mocha head. Smells of oak, chocolate and coffee prevail, the taste is fairly coffee forward with chocolate on the back and slight vanilla notes. Nothing too impressive or unique from this stout, wished the oak was more pronounced.

3/8/14. Bomber thanks to Ferris! Black pour with a nice tan head that fades to a ring but sticks. Very rich dark chocolate aroma, plenty of roast, cocoa nibs, mild coffee. Rich flavor, dark chocolate, mild coffee, lots of roast, more dark chocolate. Not bad!

Bottle - Dark chocolate, light dark bourbon and slight coffee notes. Jet black with a thin brown head. Lots of dark chocolate and a long finish, but little evidence of the wood. Finish is very long and bitter sweet.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2014 Big bottle from Whole Foods Columbus Circle, NYC. Dirty, oily obsidian with a swell of foam the colour of mud. Aroma of dark smooth bitter chocolate, espresso, desiccated coconut, burnt toast, very well roasted nuts and a sniff of ashtray. Pungent and smooth in the royal Belgian dessert style (or something); bitter chocolate, high cocoa mocha, espresso, incinerated nut, a trickle of blackcurrant. More coconut: the barrel? Luxurious and mouth-filling palate. Deep. A bathtime classic.

Dark brown and opaque with a dense, tan head and a dark chocolate, coffee nose. Malty intro followed by medium carbonation in the mouthfeel, and finishing with dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, chocolate Roman candy, and dark fruit.
