Clear copper orange color with little foam head. Malty smell. The taste is malty sweet with bread taste and hints of licorice. Moderately carbonated. The aftertaste is mild and quite good.

On tap @ Gourmet Haus Staudt. Hazed copper colored beer with a big white head. Combination of caramel, candied orange, grassy hops, and flowers on the nose. Kind of herbal and spicy as well. The flavor is much more sweet than I was expecting. Lots of toffee and caramel malts. Slight club soda feel to it. Decent enough hop character with notes of grass, orange, and dried herbs. But not terribly impressive on the whole.

vinivini (749) - BELARUS - MAY 15, 2015
Custom bottle with ’Original Zwickl’ on label. Cloudy orange to amber, frothy head. Average retention. Some laces. The nose is not strong & malty: grains & sunflower oil. A hint of apples. Light to medium body. Sweet grainy taste. Only a hint of bitterness. Fruity notes. Well it’s a Kellerbeer. Still I’ve known better examples of this style.

Bottle. Pale amber with lasting head and lace. Grassy bready aroma with a hint of caramel and herb. Mildly sweet grassy hay with mild caramel and medium herbal bitterness. Light body. Nice natural carbonation soft fee. Very good.

Pale golden. Conspicuous carbonation. White head. Aroma is medicinal, iron rust and corn flakes. Tasteless, lightest body. Without structure. Abrupt finish.

Aroma is dusty, musky and kinda doesn’t say much. Flavor is grassy with some apple thrown in. My first kellerbier experience, and i hope i’ll find better ones later.

Golden with off-white head. Aroma of malt and fresh grass. Taste is fruity with apples. Easily drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Only a bit hazy, amber-golden colored, weak white head, almost only lacing. Aroma is of grains, bread dough and green apples. Taste is moderate sweet malt, some caramel and grains, again a bit of green apple, doughy yeasty finish. Low bodied, low on carbonation.

Bottle from The German Club 190415. The beers starts out clear and then clouds up a bit as it is poured and then up again. Big fluffy head caps off this copper brew that sends out aromas of caramel and malt. While the aroma is quite distinct the flavour flavour is harder to nail down. There’s a nice maltiness followed by a dry finish.

Good, above average Zwickl. Maybe a little too sweet and low on hops. But definately very drinkable.
