Cask: Regular; Bottle: Filtered.
A fruity and malty chestnut coloured ale. The warmth and flavour are derived from the crystal and chocolate malt combined with traditional English hops.

@ Raven, Bath. Bright golden-amber. The aroma is fruity-berryish with a hint of caramel. Character is lightly toasty, lightly metallic with caramelly notes. OK, quite malt-accented.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Yep it’s a pretty decent brown bitter. Some yeast character on aroma, some malty fruit. Bit lacking in body in the middle. Short lived bitterness on the finish. Aroma is ok, but then it fades after that.

Cask conditioned at The Odd Wheel Inn, Wembury, Devon. Brown amber with white head. This was a little flat but still a sweetish, malty beer with darker roasted malts. Good nose and perhaps a little thin on the palate there is a burnt husky taste through the finish. pretty decent.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Battersea Beer Festival, 11 February 2010. Amber colour. Scant head. Light condition. Clean, fresh and a little fruity (again). Some estery, slightly gluey notes in the aroma. Crisp and easy drinking. Pretty decent but not spectacular.

Bottled. A mid brown coloured beer with a thick whitish head and lacing. There are toasty notes in the otherwise thin aroma. Not much going on in the mouth either. A little bitterness, a little bread. Thin and average.

bottle, bought somewehre in rural Devon. Clear chestnut-amber colour, mid-sized beige head. Malty-hoppy nose. Light to medium-bodied, solid malty base with a good portion of bitter and aromatic hops. Very slightly fruity. A nice one.

Bottle purchased at Sainsburys, Kidlington, Oxon and consumed in a field at Towersey, Oxfordshire, 30-08-09 Pours amber with off-white head. Nice fruity beer with some reasonable bitterness, in fact getting slightly more bitters as it slips down. Bit malty and hops are noticeable, decent beer. A6 A3 F7 P3 Ov13 3.2

DruncanVeasey (5138) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - AUG 31, 2009
Bottle. Thick collared copper hinting at the creaminess beneath. Woodsy, discreetly spicy hop musk nudging into hazelnut, chocolate and wholemeal. Slick, woodsy and good, holding those hazelnut, chocolate, digestive and faint beansprout dankness notes all the way. Might be filtered, but doesn’t feel it. Rub of peppery English hopcone. Really well put together, and BrewDog aside, easily the pick of the Sainsbury’s haul so far...
