cask @ the Kingfisher, Colyton. Amber colour, creamy head. Grainy malt flavours, hints of honey and cereals, resiny-citrsy hops in the lingering finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 2/5/2012. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Citrus and grassy hop aroma with some rich tea malts. Flavour had more fruit, biscuit malts and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. Reasonable hop blend, not tremendously flavoursome, but with a subtle blend of UK hop and a hint of US. Some tiny biscuit near the finish. Pleasant Bitter.

Cask, handpump @ The Powder Monkey, Exmouth, Devon.
Feigntly hazy, tawny copper with a solid, lasting, white head of foam. Marmalade, dry fruitcake nose, peppery, earthy and musty. Roasted nuts, big, bold peppery bite, adhering, drawing, dry. Nice long malt and spicy, bitter hop swallow. Quite woody, oaken, with hints of smoke and dried prunes, dates and fruit mince. Light in body so you can slam it back, bold flavours for a beer of modest strength. Lucky to get a go on this one as a mere 2 hours later it was pulled off the pumps here. Nicely balanced, characterful and well crafted session bitter.

[Cask at the First and Last, Penzance] Deep amber with a moderate creamy head and a slight fizz. Dominated by a woodland mulch flavour, this is surprisingly dry and refreshing for a darker bitter. A lasting dry, bitter finish with a hint of pepper. Nice, and a little bit different.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Grosvenor, Stockwell.
Clean full on amber colour wtb a well behaved white head. A straight forward but very enjoyable bitter. Think this is a new brewery for me and I have to say I’m quite impressed. Deep earthy backbone with a bright, almost assertive bitterness. Lovely dry feel with a good lengthy finish. Nothing outlandish but supremely easy to drink and just all round enjoyable.

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Amber with white head. Quite a malty bitter with a slightly perfumed, fruity note, slight sweetness, lasting bitterness on the tongue. Fairly average bitter.
