On-tap at 55 Drafts and more. Clear yellow golden with a nice white head. Aroma of fresh grass, grains and light fruity hops notes. Sweetish, with bready malts and noble hops undertones and crispy hop bitterness, dry-ish bitter aftertaste. Light-medium bodied, easy drinking and well made.

Bottle shared by Shay and Lorraine at tasting at my house. Pours cloudy gold with white head. Nose and taste of lemon cake, bready malt, old stale grain and touch of skunked grain. Lighter medium body.

Bottle at a tasting at James’ place. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a thin white head. Sweet bready fruit and yeast. Medium-bodied, sweet with a bit of grain and musk. Grainy, dry and bready into the finish. Some light skunky notes, old grain.

Smaskifa (124) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 9, 2013
Bottle at Casino de Paris, in the Mahane Yehuda Market. (Excellent place btw). Appears very much like a pilsner, straw yellow, with a decent head (the glass might not have been optimal). I don’t pick much up in the aroma, quite bland, the taste is much the same - distant malts, some light touch of hops in the end. It’s a little more full on that a regular industrial pilser, for sure, but it’s not that special either. Works well for a hot day when in need for a refreshment.

Hazy golden body with a big foamy head. Aroma of grain and some yeast. Taste of grain and stone. Light bitterness that gets a little more pronounced on palate. Not that interesting, but as a drinkable lager it’s not bad

Clear yelow with no head. Aroma: not too much going on there, mild aroma of some hops and malts....Taste: grassy hops, very refreshing, some rubbery note in there that is quite disturbing? All in all the best of the four beers tried at the brewpub.

It pours a cloudy, creamy yellow color, with a giant, fluffy white head. The aroma had very little hop character to balance against a combination of bready malt and some yeast esters. The flavor was likewise un-pilsner-like, with the muted hop profile being overtaken by sweet, bready malts and some almost-hefeweizen-like yeast characteristics. The texture was quite effervescent, but it also had a decent weight/mouthfeel. Overall, this was a decent beer and an interesting insight into Middle-eastern brewing, but it did not meet the expectations for a pilsner.
