Cask conditioned at Merton Summer Beer Festival 06. Dark brow with light head. I found quite a smokey, ashy note to this accomplished, low ABV mild, quite smooth with a chocolate dry malt and a touch of fruit. Also hints of tea and bark, but always back to the smoke.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - MAY 2, 2004
Reading Beer Fest, Gravity. Dark mild with brown fringes. Coffee and soft red fruit (strawberries?) aroma. Soft but insistent carbonation (beer not ready?) with a gentle coffee and slightly acidic fruit flavour. Refreshing and pleasant, leaving a mild licorice in the mouth, but carbonation is off putting.

[Cask conditioned] A rather full bodied and tasty mild ale. It's quite complex with some very nice smoked notes.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Spiesy (2336) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - OCT 1, 2003
Cask Conditioned, at the Saint Albans Beer Festival, 2003. Dark but not black with a largish tan head. Cherry & seder wood aroma supported by decent toasted malt. Initially a slight sweet woody flavour then plenty of chocolate malt, then finally the long slow bitter ride to the finish. The bitterness isn’t imposing, nor are any of its constituents. Pleasant indeed.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 bierkoning (8099) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - AUG 12, 2003
Dark brown color. Somewhat toasty caramel aroma. Medium bodied, but a bit watery texture. Careamel and glue, some licorice. OK, but nothing more.
