Our 2009 series partly focuses on Salford again - this time on events, anniversaries and local organisations.The third in the series is Salford Flyer (4.1%). 2009 sees the centenary of the first all-British powered flight by A V Roe who was born in Patricroft, Salford in 1877. Roe flew 30m in his triplane, a replica of which can be seen in Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry.Roe, together with his brother, went on to set up Avro aircraft manufacturers in 1910 in Manchester and Oldham. Brewed with Whisky malts.
