Bottle at chriso’s Pre-GBBF Tasting 2013 - London. Pours hazy amber with a creamy, white head. Light smokey and bready malts in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor with dry caramel and booze. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate ripe berry finish with notes of caramel, alcohol and earth. Nice enough.

All around this is a good beer but its really tough to drink more then a few ounces. Huge sweetness and harsh boozyness mask the vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit nuances that make it a good beer.

11/25/2012. From a 22 oz bottle. Dark amber color with a tan head. Aromas of dried fruit, roasted malt, alcohol, caramel. Some oaky flavors blended with the fruit. A bit buttery and sweet at first, then the warming alcohol sets in.

Really sweet bomber, barrel characteristics are pretty awesome, the base beer is pretty harsh however, it’s ok

Poured a dark amber from the bottle with aromas of toffee, caramel, light figs, and a touch of vanilla. Flavors are huge caramel and toffee with some nutty figs added, a very nice barley wine that surprised me.

Bomber from the brewery. Pours a hazy dark bronze color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bourbon, toffee, mild raisin, mild toast. The taste is toffee malts, whiskey, bitter hops. Medium bodied, well balanced. 7000th overall rating, and 1000th Virginia rating! I intentionally did a cider, mead and beer as my last three to 1000, because I wanted to pay homage to the incredible artisans in the state making those products. We’re not a famous brewing state like some others, but we do have a lot of people making great stuff. Cheers to Virginia!
