Trade extra. Pours a nice deep black with a effervescent soda head. Nose is some milk chocolate and nice malts. Flavors are off. A lot of acetone and infected flavors. Perhaps a bad bottle or old bottle. A bit sad but these things happen.

Poured an oily dark stout brown color with aromas of chocolate, licorice, some light caramel, vanilla and a touch of earth. Flavors are the same with a touch of sweet brandy in the aftertaste. A nice ba stout from these guys.

Green wax 22oz bottle: pours an oily opaque with a spotty-lacing froth of dark beige head. Has a sweet toasted dark caramel and chocolate nose with some piny hops and a hint of oak and sweet brandy. Starts with good fullness and fine carbonation with sweet dark malts giving way to a drier, roasted and bittersweet dark chocolate finish. Has pretty good complexity, but could use a little less bitterness.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, light wood, light booze, dried fruits and a brandy/wine note. Similar flavor with some added coffee and light citrus notes.

Bottle - crowned with green wax. Black pour with a medium, dense brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit notes, hints of oak, light booze and hints of wine. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, wine notes, light booze, light oak, dark fruit and hints of coffee. Body is a touch thinner than expected and has a dense, bubbly carbonation. Soft warmth as well. Ends with more dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee notes, softer wine notes, cocoa, light oak and dark fruit.

22oz, green waxed bottle, from the release. pours just a bit silkier and denser than the bourbon with a thinner, khaki head that does a nice job sticking around the edges and leaving rings of lace. aroma is excellent, albeit subtle, with rich dark fruit notes of dates, black cherry, and red wine balance by toasted oak, cocoa powder, citrus rind, and hints of toffee. flavor is wonderful as well and brings forth more dark chocolate, brownies, ash, and espresso with more citrus rind, dark cherry, vanilla, and dry oak bringing up the finish. palate is smooth and full bodied with light carbonation and a balanced finish of chocolate, roast, and wood. overall, another well done barrel aged effort from the beach crew but i do prefer the bourbon slightly.

22 oz. bottle bought at the brewery. This version is slightly more bitter than the bourbon barrel counterpart. Pours black with a tan head. Still a lot of licorice aromas and flavors, but the barrel flavors are more muted.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is surprisingly quite fruity from the barrel fading to reveal chocolate, coffee and molasses. Medium body with sharp fizzy carb and prominent alcohol. Taste is brandy, dark chocolate, salty black licorice and burnt grapefruit peel. Has some rough edges but it grows on me.

Very good imperial stout with slight brandy and vanilla notes. A roasty toasty delight.
