22oz bottle: pours an oily opaque with a large effervescent beige head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some light vanilla bourbon oak and lots of roasted malt. Starts with decent fullness and light sweetness with†some bourbon oak and dark chocolate with dark fruity notes. Finishes drier, roasty and bittersweet. Could use a little more body and bourbon character, but still has pretty good complexity.

Bottle. Pours black with a large tan head. Great aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, wood, whiskey and light coconut. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate, coconut, wood, whiskey and light vanilla. Similar finish with a little more booze. Great beer.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a clumpy tan head. Nose is bourbon, wet wood and dull chocolate with a hint of Robitussin. Medium body with a faint tang and some heat. Taste is black licorice, bourbon, quinine, coffee and lime juice. Finishes earthy and ashy. Odd one; i liked the citrus note though maybe not intended.

Bottle - Blue wax sealed. Tall, thick frothy mocha head atop pitch blackness. Aroma is magnificent! Nose is molasses, vanilla, coconut, roasted malt, dark chocolate, soft oak and booze. Taste is vanilla, toasted coconut, roasted malt, molasses, brownies, soft oak, booze and dark chocolate. Body is medium-full with a chewy, dense carbonation and a pleasant warmth. Ends with more toasted coconut and vanilla, dark chocolate, burnt brownies, booze and light oak. NICE! Much better than on draft, in my humble opinion.

22oz, blue waxed bottle from the release. great to see the Beach guyís doing a release day that was a damn good time and well run. bottles opens with an agressive hiss and pours a silky, deep mocha that sits black in the glass capped by a dense, creamy, dark khaki head that leaves sticky rings of lace. aroma is oustanding, a bit sweeter than last yearís version, with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla pie, amaretto, and mocha espresso that are backed up by subtle toffee, wood, dark fruits, and toasted marshmallow. flavor is really wonderful with rich cocoa, dark roasted malts, fresh coffee, and smooth bourbon up front balance by sweet notes of angelís food cake, vanilla icing, hazelnut cream, and nougat with a touch of toasted coconut on the back end. palate is outstanding with dense carbonation that gives this version a silky, creamy mouthfeel and tames the bourbon notes. overall, another damn nice effort.
