Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear dark vibrant red color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of stone fruits, toffee, rye, earthy and herbal notes. The taste is bitter rye, herbal hops, toffee and earthy notes. Medium bodied. A little bit bland and definitely off-balance.

Draft. Pours reddish with a small, off-white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, caramel, and light rye. Flavors of citrus and light pine hops, sweet caramel, spicy rye and a touch of earthiness. More hoppy than expected, in a good way. More citrus, light pine, caramel and rye in the finish. More rye spiciness as it warms. Alcohol is very well hidden. A tasty beer.

Growler from the brewery. Reddish pour with a thin khaki head. Light floral and grapefruit aroma. The bitterness from the hops is met with an assertive toffee and chocolate balance in the malt profile. The bitterness lingers for a while on the palate. Really good as it is but I would prefer a stronger hop presence.

Growler shared with friends, thanks Ken! Pours a clear amber with an off-white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of of dark grains and rye with a bit of backing floral and grassy hops. Flavor begins with some resinous pine with a rye backbone and has a bit of citrus come out with hints of sweet grains.

From a brewery-born growler. Pronounced red hue, shiny and clear, with an airy head. The beer emits a decidedly caramel aroma, with an earthy backdrop. It drinks with a muscular mouthfeel, slick and laden with flavor -- caramel malt and tangy pine, both the rye and hops evident but subdued. Sneaky for 9%, so be careful! (#4579, 4/29/2012)

Great stuff. One of the best rye IPAs ive had. Beach brewing is really doing great things theese days and this might be the best yet.

Growler from the brewery. Coppery ruby pour. Short tan head. Aroma is citrus, spicy hops, rye notes and soft caramel. Taste is rye, spicy hops, citrus fruit, light pine, caramel, floral hops and sweet, sticky malts. Body is medium, but chewy with a dense, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more spicy hops, rye, caramel, citrus zest, sweet malt, light tropical fruit and pine.

Picked up a growler of this stuff Saturday night. Rojo pours a dark amber reddish color. A two finger head is poured from the growler. Decent retention and nice lacing throughout. Mike gave me a sample of this beer at the brewery so I already knew that when I opened up the growler I would be hit with a nice dose of hops. This red is dosed with columbus, cascade, and simcoe during the boil and dry hopped with cascade, centennial, and citra. As the beer warms up more of the spiciness from the rye comes through with some caramel. It has a nice deep aroma. The taste is once again a nice dose of hoppiness. Citrus for the most part. I wouldn’t call this the most balanced beer ever and I don’t think they they were going for that but the rye does do a good job of trying to catch up. Once again as you let this warm up more and more comes out of it. Nice spicy rye, potent citrus hops. This has a really nice taste to it. On the palette this beer lingers forever and it was still there almost an hour after I finished my glass. Lingering citrus, rye spice, and some heat from the alcohol. You don’’t really pick up the alcohol while drinking the beer, most just lingers in the after taste. Medium bodied, starts smooth and has a roughness to it in the end. To me this is their best beer yet. I’ll plan on trying their newest version of their DIPA sometime this week. But if you’re around the brewery, pick up a growler!
