UPDATED: SEP 27, 2012 Growler. Amber pour with a short, foamy white head. Aroma is pure hop bliss! Loads of citrus, floral hops and pine notes. Some hints of tropical fruit and soft malt as well. Nice hop bomb up front on the palate as well. Taste is big pine, hop resins, soft tropical fruit notes, floral notes, citrus and sweet malt. Packs more punch than some double IPAs that I’ve had. Body is medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation and a slick oily feel. Lingering hop bitterness throughout. Ends with more pine, floral hops, citrus oils, hops resins, caramel, sweet malt, and light tropical fruit. This should be a mainstay in the Beach Brewing line-up. Awesome sessionable pale ale. Glad I got to try this before it kicked this past weekend and even more glad that Beach Brewing held me a growler until I got over to VA Beach from Newport News. Thanks! ****Update**** This really is a phenomenal beer, especially at 4.5% ABV. So flavorful and aromatic. This is what a session pale ale should be. Were this widely available it would be a top ten beer without a doubt.

Fresh growler from the brewery. Yellowish-orange pour with an off-white head. Impressive aroma of pine, grass, and tangerine. Assertive hop flavor of pine needles, wet grass, and grapefruit rind. Packs as much flavor as most IPAs and some DIPAs with twice the ABV. A nice surprise, but this is one of the best American Pale Ale’s I have ever tried.

Draft at the brewery The APA poured a clear golden color with a small head and lacing. We visited this small brewery (7 barrel fermenter) to get an IPA to have with crabs with our son. We purchased a growler of their Hoptopus DIPA. This is good pale ale with the bitter taste of hops and definite citrus or grapefruit. The aroma was of grapefruit as well. The carbonation was average with a nice finish of hop bitterness in the top of your mouth.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2013 FIRST RATING! picked up a super fresh growler from the brewery. supposedly this is a "one time only" brew but let me be the first to say, please, please, please brew this again! pours a beautiful, clear, gold capped by a frothy, bright white head that leaves sticky rings of lace. aroma is simply fantastic with huge citrus hop notes of pink grapefruit, orange pulp, and lemon zest backed subtle notes of pineapple, papaya, apricot, and mango with zesty grass and pine notes adding balance to the fruit esters. flavor is exactly what an aggressively hopped pale ale should taste like with huge, citrus notes highlighted by white grapefruit and mandarin orange backed by sweet pineapple, kiwi, apricot, and starfruit with balance being provided by crackery malts and bitter pine esters. palate is light bodied, crisp, clean, and is remarkably sessionable at only 4.5% abv. overall, this might be Beach Brewing Co.’s best effort yet. a super hoppy pale.
