Our Hoptopus IPA is an 8-legged hophead’s dream. Its 8.8% ABV malt base balances with 8 separate additions of hops, 88 IBUs, and a foolishly generous dry-hop to make this denizen of the deep a lupulin delight.

Thanks to Deuce for this. Pours hazy amber gold with a moderate frothy white top. Aroma is pine and tropical fruit with some nice dankness. Taste is a slow hop bitterness of pine and light tropical. Great beer.

By far the best beer that is offered currently at this brewery. Right from the tap, offered on a flight of 4 has a great balance of flavor and hop. Nice color that is nice full flavor that contains a full taste. I could go back to other IPA’S offered there after drinking this complete beer.

Poured from a very fresh can (3 days old). Slight booze aroma, there is no hiding this beer is 8.8%, followed by bitter hops, crushed fresh pine needles, an almost, acrid, electrical fire like quality. Appearance is hazy copper, thin white head, lingers on the glass. Taste is a double IPA smack down. Huge, bitter hops. Mouth full of pine, booze, bitter, slight hint of citrus. Overall an incredible double ipa

Poured from a 16 OZ can into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a nice hop smell with some citrus tossed in Appearance- A murky copper color with a thick white head. Taste- A nice hop flavor with some citrus and a little spice. real good Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Has a dry finish with a hop bite. Overall- A surprisingly good American DIPA. I liked the color and flavor and the can is pretty cool to look at.

March Madness 2015 - Much more of a standard american IPA than a double IPA.

March madness 2015. Beer has a nice hops aroma but the underlying malt is lacking for a double IPA. Still the hops flavor sand malt are balanced although the finish is slightly on the bitter side.

Orange pineapple juice just burst out of the can as soon as you pour it. There should be a juice called orange-pineapple-hops. Taste is like a tropical fruit drink. So much pineapple, peach, mango and papaya. Underlying grapefruit and subtle sweet malt. Very dry finish, almost like white wine. I really enjoyed this, I highly recommend it if you’re in Virginia. Cheers!

note: 108 IBUs now. this beer needs some fresh ratings. new recipe, newly canned on 2/4/15. it was mediocre, but hopefully the change in profile will change the current desire and outlook! N - nose is fairly similar, but has a sweeter, more distinct character. you can tell there are citra hops present now. A - murky, dark, almost blood-orange color. average head and lacing. T - is this even the same beer? big bursts from the citra hops jump right out. almost a buttery character - this is all of a sudden a must-have local (read: 757/hampton roads) DIPA, and the only local one brewed often enough. P - not flashy, nothing to dismiss. biting, stinging, no grapefruit though. O - if you’re in VB, you have to get some of this. this went from "meh" to very good overnight. as long as they can brew enough to keep this fresh, i’ll be happy. kudos
