Commercial Description:
Beach Bum is an all-malt American blonde ale, which draws its deep golden color from the finest pale and caramel roasted barley malts. This beer is dry hopped with the choicest imported Alsace and Hallertau hops as well as Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest, which lend to its pleasant hop aroma and its slightly spicy and fruity taste.

Draft at Coach & Horses in Huntington, IN. Medium sized white head that mostly diminished, minimal amount of lacing, transparent, no visible carbonation, and a yellow hue. Malty and hoppy nose. Flavor was malty, some hoppiness, somewhat crisp, acidic, and very mettalic. Medium body. Not a very enjoyable brew, not refreshing at all and one that is easy to forgot about.

The smell is of fresh oranges and ????, Has a low sized head and the lacing is abysmal to non existent... The taste is very muddled and grainy ... This was not very enjoyable and frankly the worst of the ’limited edition’ seasonal brews from AB .. I will take a lemon with me if i need refreshing!

Bottled. Born on May 30, ’07. Beer is clear, light brassy gold with a small, white, frothy, mostly and rapidly diminishing head.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of caramel cookie, light toasted grain; Hoppy with light herbal and lemon zest, moderate resin notes; Yeasty with a light note of bread dough; Trace of plastic/lacquer.
The flavor is moderately bitter, light-moderately sweet, lightly acidic with a long, moderately bitter, lightly sweet, trace acidic finish. Off-putting bitterness in the finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
Instantly forgettable.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy/frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, flowers, resin), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, husky. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, very metallic. Quite a metallic finish on this one...kinda like the aftertaste of sucking on zinc lozenge. Kind of an odd sourness as well. There are better A-B pseudo-micros than this one.

Wow, can’t understand why Ratebeer folks rate this SO much lower than the Beer Advocate guys do?! I am enjoying AB’s "crafty" brews. Pours golden, with nice white head that dissapates into a decnet lacing. Aroma of friuts, and bit of hops. Taste was very refreshing, fruity, with a great malt finish. Isn’t the best blonde I have ever had, and I promise the rating would be at least a full point over what it is, if you guys did not know it was made by a macro.

12oz bottle born on date 05may07. Aroma of a dead skunk left on the highway. Gold body with white fizzy head. Burnt corn and bitterness that was too much for my palate. Also water down and just not refreshing at all. Uck..

Draught. A clear yellow gold, this is more a blonde ale than pale ale. Mild spicey aroma. The flavor had a slight resemblence to Goose Island Matilda, with a litlle spice and pepper like Matilda, but to a much subdued extent. Then there was a slightly sour overripe fruit tone in the middle. The finish combined the sour fruit and a bit of hops. This is a rather light mellow body, not bold or heavy.

had this one in the berwery Merrimack, n.h. really not a terrible beer and an ok blonde ale. Has notes of fruit but not enough to taste through the crappy hops used, tasted burnt.
