COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When you get three hopheads together to collaborate on a beer, it’s only natural to expect some hopped up liquid incarnation of their lupulin lust to spring forth from such a session. Maybe it seems passé to some—three masters of hoppy beer once again exploring the familiar territory of the India pale ale. After all, who needs yet another IPA, double or otherwise, right? It’s all been done. To those who feel this way, this trio’s reply is: “So what?” In birthing a double IPA made bitter and fruity care of a mélange of new and experimental hops (Azacca, Belma, and yet-to-be-named varieties from Washington’s Yakima Valley), they aren’t staying in a comfort zone—they’re hitting a sweet spot in the name of all that is good, delicious, hoppy and forward-thinking to create an IPA that’s both like and unlike anything they, or you, have ever tasted. Rife with essence of pine, resin, and fruits both citrus and tropical, there’s no need for apologies with this beer. All that’s necessary is a yearning for hops, a sturdy constitution and an empty glass.

Aroma of lots of pine, citrus, taste is piney, citrus, lots of resin, mild malt that serves as a nice sweetness to a very bitter beer. This is a must try!

Orange color with am attractive sticky of white head. Nose of pine and oxidized hops. This bottle says July 15 of 14 as the bottle date even though I bought it today. Flavors of old grapefruit, card board and pine over a thick caramel sweetness and doughy breadiness. I was hoping for more from this but this bottle seems lacking in the hop department.

Aroma makes this beer as most of stones do. Aroma is a bunch of grapefruit and lemon citrus. Malt back is evident even thigh it is hop forward. Really great collab!

22 oz bomber served in a tulip glass. Pours hazy golden orange with medium thick fluffy white head. Aroma is light caramel malt, and juicy floral light citrusy hops. Taste is lightly sweet malt, then big juicy citrusy hops. Some pleasant resiny and lightly dank flavor there, but the citrus notes dominate. Some grapefruit but mostly orange, tangerine, and a bit of lemon. Slight lingering bitterness before finishing clean. Just another outstanding DIPA from Stone and Friends...

bottle. Pale golden with one finger head. Tastes like an average big IPA. Solidly constructed, but the hops are more bitter than flavorful. Booze is present, but not in your face. I have high hopes from Stone, and this didn’t quite deliver.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light summer fruit aroma. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Tropical fruit and summer fruit linger with grapefruit.

Pours a very clear dull golden color with a sticky white head and lacing. A very off strong bitter taste which over powers everything else. Not very drinkable at all. I was not the biggest fan.

[6912-20141114] Bottle. Orange hops and evergreen aroma. Hazy, orange body with a quick foamy white head. More hoppy orange and pine notes in the flavour. Medium body is a little boozy. Good. (7/3/8/3/14) 3.5
