3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Beachwood for their Anniversary Party. Thank you to the Andrews. Considered the magnum opus of the brewpub. Pours nearly flat, clear deep red to a black tea color. No foam. Nose is big American bourbon, vanilla, buttery oak. Taste is mildly bitter (or maybe that is the long bitter finish on the Zwickl), milk chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon. Subtle hop balance. Not cloying or sticky. Palate has some tannic "bite" that in unpleasant but warming alcohol is forefront. A decant, dessert beer for a snifter. Nice to savor.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a deep mahogany color with a small khaki head. Really nice nutty quality to the nose. Sweet caramel and toffee, maple syrup, and chocolate. Big vanilla and bourbon aromas, oak, a bit of booze, and lots of dark fruits. The flavor has an excellent sweetness and great bourbon, vanilla, and oak flavors. Tons of chocolate, toasted nuts, caramel, maple syrup, and dark fruit.
