COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Full Malted Jacket is our take on a classic "wee heavy" Scotch Ale. It’s brewed with a base of Golden Promise malt, an heirloom variety from Scotland. Notable additions of light and dark British caramel malts with a smidgen of chocolate malt help add flavors of rich toffee. Full Malted Jacket endures an extended three hour boil to add a unique richness to this lusciously malty brew. It’s hopped just enough with British Goldings hops from East Kent to balance things out.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear amber pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel and some fruit. Malty flavor with a birch character and caramel before a fruity and minty finish.

Wax sealed bottle from Bine and Vine: Poured a deep and dark amber hue that had transparency of mahogany while a soft creamy thin head developed on top which actually reminded me of Guinness Draught. Aroma is thick and heavy with toffee caramel like malts but in general is a subtle and tame olfaction. The taste is sweet with sugary sweet malts that are chewy in flavor of toffee and caramel that stays true to the Scottish-style ale. One clever name and cool design on the label which is another reminder that Beachwood stands out from the rest of the breweries coming out of Southern Cali.

Dark copper pour with a honey colored head. Sweet caramel, toffee, cocoa, molasses, and maybe even a touch of maple in this one. Chewy and sticky. Dessert in a bottle. Decadent.

Pours a murky brown/ruby with a medium tan head. Aroma has moderate roastiness along with hints of fruit, peat, chocolate, and toffee. Flavor has good earthy bitterness to add a bit of balance to roasty notes of chocolate, toffee and mild fruit. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with an earthy bitter/roasty finish. IMHO they nailed the style.

Wow. If you like a malty brew buy one of these. This is probably the best drink I’ve had from these guys and I will be back.

Tap. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, creamy light tan head, medium retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is cookie and caramel malt with dates and plums with light earthy hops and a light peat character. Flavor is malt dominant with dark fruity esters, light hops and bitterness, light smoke/peat and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

A deep caramel colored pour, off white head. Aroma has a hint of peat but is dominated by way too much malt. I felt like I was eating some spent grain when I drank this. Overpowering in my opinion.

Tap at Beachwood Long Beach. Poured clear, deep maroon/brown with low carbonation and weak head formation. Nose is cherry juice box. Taste is dry, salty, malt heavy. Small oatmeal and brown sugar. Decent enough. Richer, dense palate.
