Glenlongbeach is a traditional Scottish "80 schilling" ale. Brewed with heirloom Scottish barley and a kiss of peat-smoked malt, this rich & malty brew packs in layers of complexity & nuance. 5% ABV, 18 IBUs. IBUs 14

Scottish Ale - whatever the fuck that is .. wooo hooo, always the last choice on the tasting flight (or one of them that maybe ties with the wheat shite) and where’s my fucking thistle ?!?!?!? I could leave it there but alas I feel compelled to rate..... Lightly hazed golden amber with a moderate light beige covering that dissipates to edgework. Nose is sweet toffee, biscuit, light smoke, vanilla, spice. Taste comprises much the same, toffee, light spice, biscuit base, caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok ... not so bad for this fabrication of a style,,, hurrah the Scoooootish but where was me Thessle?

Backlog from the first batch (I think the most recent batch might be better). Pours with a clear copper hued body with a tan head that lasts. Aromas are of mildly fruity esters, malty, nutty and a touch earthy/musty. Very light smoke. Flavors are hugely malty, toasty, nutty, leather, light melanoidins, medium-low bitter, very dry finish despite the malt. Fuller carbonation.

Tap at Beachwood Long Beach. Clear, tea red pour. Wispy lacing. Sweeter cherry juice box nose. Taste is stickier, but not cloying, sweet red cherry, red apple skin tannic. Not my style.

Aroma: Hints of smokiness over a dry, grassy aroma. Appearance: Clear amber with minimal head. Taste: Light sourness that builds to a medium sweetness with smokey edges. Palate: Medium body, lively carbonation, dry texture, long finish. Overall: A very unique beer that’s working on a lot of levels. Nothing like anything I’ve ever tasted, but in a good way.

Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, hint of chocolate and smoke. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a malty finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. Amber in color, clear, and with a light beige head. Mostly malty aroma, some dried fruit notes blending in. Roasted notes. The flavor too on the malty side, with roasted malts and a little bitterness. Full body, soft carbonation. Malty fin. A bit one dimensional this one, bores me slightly. 130813

On tap @ Beachwood Brewing. Amber pour with a khaki head. Mild banana on the nose, sweet caramel, and toffee. A bit of toast, some peat, smoke, and a hint of roast. There’s plenty of peat and smoke to the flavor. A hint of banana, some caramel, toffee, and toasted malt. Fairly light flavor, actually.
