COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hef Leppard is a traditional Bavarian-style weizen with its roots in strong German brewing traditions. A base of German wheat, pilsner, and Munich malts, give this beer has a soft and wheaty foundation. Fermented with our favorite Bavarian yeast, delicate aromas of clove combine with floral German hops to round out this delicately refreshing beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a kind of milky, yellow hued body with a small white head. Pretty decent lace and retention. Aromas are grassy and carbonic, mineral in the nose as well. Grainy, mild isoamyl acetate, peppery phenol, but not strong on the 4VG. Flavors are grainy, pretty dry, some pear esters, exceptionally low isoamyl acetate, grassy, peppery, a little strong on the bitterness for my take on the style. Full bodied, grainy, medium-high carbonation. Cleanly made.

Tap at Beachwood Long Beach. Pours a clear yellow/orange with small white head. Aroma is bread, slight banana and some grass. (Taster glass is not always forgiving.) Taste is clean, bread, grass, slight banana but more so a pear syrup taste. Ok, not sure of this in terms of style.

I had this on tap at Beachwood in Long Beach. This nearly clear yellow pour had muted notes of banana. I didn’t detect much in the way of clove. It’s a very subdued hefe

A very hazy yellow color with a white head. Slight citrus peel aroma up front, but decent malt sweetness, some hints of banana, and very mild clove. Decent malt sweetness of bread and wheat. A touch of citrus, light tartness, and a hint of banana. Very mild clove notes in the background and a hint of straw.
