COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To commemorate its 5th anniversary, we decided to brew something that embodied the free and creative spirit of Beachwood BBQ. High Five is an inspired saison brewed with German pilsner malt and softened with rye and wheat malts. Additions of Chinese long pepper, annatto seed, saffron and local orange honey give this beer a very complex and fresh aroma. The flavor is delicately spiced, yet laced with earthy nuances from the annatto seed and German noble hops. The dry finish and lively carbonation help round out its rustic profile.

Draught at Tiger!Tiger! Clear golden amber with a. 1 1/2 finger creamy light beige head, good retention. Sweet rye and strong wheat notes with some testy fruit and mild spice, tinge of anise. Not near the pepperiness or dry biscuit notes of a regular traditional saison. Moderate honey sweetness as it warmed, tinge of peach. Flavor has much more earthy spice, doesn’t seem like it’s from the yeast at all. Wheat and rye dominate, otherwise. Dry finish after a tinge of honey, bitterness a 2, earthy, low pepper. Light to medium body with medium creamy carbonation. Good, but to be whiny, the yeast wasn’t quite right for me.

A fairly clear golden orange color with a big white head. A nice bready aroma, a nice bit of honey. I don’t really get much of the pepper. A bit of yeast, too. The flavor has a nice sweetness and plenty of bready malt flavor. A touch of honey, some yeast, and maybe some citrus/orange peel flavor, too.

On draft at Beer Revolution. It pours a very light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very nice with some tea leaves, floral spices, touches of honey and vanilla. The flavor has a good level of pepperiness balanced with some honey and tropical fruit. Wonderfully light on the palate and flavorful but not overdone. Great beer.

On tap. Pours with a crystal clear golden hued body with a large and lasting white head. Aromas are bready, grainy, floral, mild esters, pear, spicy hops and a touch of nasal burn from spice. Lightly grassy, a touch of citrus. Flavors are grainy, earthy, bready, saffron, toasty, light esters. Phenols, peppery spice, pepper corns. Spiciness is more subdued than I thought/feared it might be (good thing). Lively carbonation, medium to light bodied. A bit vegital. Dry.
