On tap at stone. Black with dark tan to brown head. Taste roast malt and oatmeal. Bit of chocolate. Rich and thick and not too bitter. Strong and full. Very good.

On tap at stone bistro. More beachwood. Yes on that... Pours a dark stouty, mostly non-transparent, borderline blackish hue and topped with a creamy tan head that reduces to a thin soapy film... Aroma of full creamy roasted malt and chocolatey nose. Smooth and quite enticing... Thin to medium silky bodied loaded with creamy grains and a sweet stout type of presence. A decent amount of roast also exists throughout. Sweet maybe a touch too sweet. But still pretty delectable. As mentioned earlier a very silky yet creamy bodied with a lighter sense of carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a black body with a large, creamy brown-tan head. Good retention. Aromas are deeply roasty, dark and bitter chocolate, lightly floral and earthy, cocoa, coffee, fudge and nougat. Flavors are quite bitter. Bitter chocolate, roasty, and pretty dry. Leather, light smoke. Very nice! Medium to bitter balance. Lingeringly bitter. Minimal astringency, lightly warming. Well attenuated, creamy with medium carbonation. A very aggressive American Stout.

A: The pour is dark brown in color with a fluffy off-white head.
S: Starts off with burnt sugar, licorice, and molasses. A nice coffee and roast aroma and a slight char. There’s a bit of espresso and a subtle sweetness of toffee.
T: Moderately bitter with lots if roast, coffee, and espresso. Some licorice and burnt sugar with a moderate sweetness of toffee and caramel. A light earthiness is present on the back end.
M: Medium in body with a smooth carbonation.
O: Probably my favorite of the beers available on the opening day.

I had this on tap at Beachwood in Long Beach. This is a really nicely crafted beer, IMO. it pours nearly black with a creamy one fingered tan head. The flavors are as advertised: roasty with chocolate and cocoa notes. The roastyness and hops balance it out to make an outstanding beer.
