COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oat monster is a traditional British-inspired oatmeal stout. A plethora of British malts create a roasty base with accents of dark toffee. A hefty helping of rolled oats adds a distinctively silky mouthfeel.

Old, old, old backlog from the first batch. Pours with a black hued body and a tan head. Aromas are roasted, toasted, oaty, chocolate, earthy, dry, nutty, light molasses, highly kilned toasted malt (special roast?). Medium dry with a complex protein malt-oat character. Lightly raisiny, leathery, dry, roast, chocolate. Medium to fuller bodied, dry, medium to medium low carbonation.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, slight chocolate, nice earth tones, hints of dark fruits and a slight anise note in there as well. Taste is a nice mix of chocolate, coffee, slight roast, into more toffee, caramel, dark sugars, hints of anise, going into some slight dark fruits, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.

Aroma: Roasted and toasted malt aromas, but very faint. Appearance: Black with minimal tan head. Taste: Medium-light sweetness straight through. Palate: Full body, dry texture, soft carbonation, dry finish. Overall: A bit one-dimensional, but still very well done.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown in the glass, a beige head on top. Roasted aroma with a good dash of coffee. Roasted flavor too, coffee and some dark chocolate blending in. Decent bitterness too. Full body, soft carbonation. Roasted finish. A nice one, but lacks on complexity think. 130813

On tap; poured a dark brown to black. ARoma of oats and caramel. Flavor had some nice sweetness, to go with oats, caramel and roasted malt.

Tap at Beachwood; dark brown color. aroma of oats, roasted malt, and coffee. Easy to drink with some nice elements, but overall lacking flavor strength of other examples of the style.

Very interesting stout, big name, on tap at the brewery, overall didn’t do it for me though, roasted taste but no surprises.

Tap at Beachwood Seal Beach. Weaker tan head, no lace. Clear red ruby pour. Nose and taste fairly weak all around like Irish dry stout. Disappointing. Dusty, weak body.
