"System of a Stout" is an imperial stout infused with all the traditional ingredients of a savory cup of Armenian coffee: cardamom, molasses, coffee (of course), and brandy. In the kettle, the beer is lightly dosed with green cardamom for exotic spice notes. Molasses adds a richness that seamlessly blends in. The finished beer was then aged for several days masterfully roasted coffee from Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. The beer was then aged for several weeks on Armenian brandy-soaked oak chips for yet another dimension of flavors and aromas. Take your time and enjoy this endlessly complex and nuanced beer.

650ml bottle. Black with lasting head. Aroma of molasses, roasted malts, dark coffee, orange peel. Taste is more spicy and fruity than I imagined with coffee and chocolate playing a nice supporting role. Some sweet, bitter and umami flavours in there. Above all, very balanced and drinkable for an impy with some nice unique character.

Bottle sample at Chmielarnia. Aroma of roasty coffee, cocoa. Taste is sweet, light bitter. Flavor of vanilla, cocoa, coffee, roasty malt. Nice.

Bottle, black beer, almond colored head. Aroma is coffee, metal, smoke, chocolate, something spicy. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, cardamom, vanilla, and more coffee. Palate is decent, not thick, carbonation subdued. This is almost all coffee.

Bottle:   Nearly black, thin to moderate foamy beige head, nice lacing.   Assertive coffee nose.   A little cream and sugar.   Its like spicy coffee with a little vodka throw in on the backside.   Very smooth, some vanilla seems to be coming out as it warms.   This one was nice, soft bitterness, a little bit of peppery spiciness seems to come out on the backside.   Moderate body, smooth mouthfeel.   I really enjoy this big yet easy to drink stouts.   Lingering spiced and peppery like coffee on the finish.   Tasty!   Thanks Rob!

22 oz bottle acquired via trade on BA. Thanks, bro. Pours a thick and viscous opaque blackish hue. Dark, thicker with a frothy light brown head. A frothy ringer sits atop and laces ok. Aromas present some nice espresso jabs, coffee and cardamom. A bit of oak and roast, some toasty malts. Nutty malts and earth, some faint dark fruit with brandy and oak. Initial is fuller body, a bit sticky and full with some nice oak presence, a coolness with smoky and toasty malts, roast and espresso, coffee and some caramel. A bit of caramom, sweetness and roasty malts. A bit of toast, more cardamom and biscuits. Oak, some vanillin and warmth. A bit of brandy fruit cuts through that espresso and biscuity roast at times. The toasty carmelized elements are substantial with that coffee and espresso, cardamom elements tapering out. Some nice vanilla, lingering roast malts and touches of gentle Vienetta as we taper out. That oaky element never really gets going, some gentle dark fruit wafts. Tasty stuff. Not too full but flavorful and enveloping the palate. Firm nose, good pour, really nice flavors and flow.

Bottle shared by Adam, thanks! Pours black with with a creamy brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has strong roasted malts, coffee and dark grains with a bit of molasses underlying. Flavor has strong roasted malts and a good amount of coffee and a backbone of dark grains and molasses.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma is mostly coffee, but also had molasses, and spice. This was a pure blast of strong coffee that had hints of spice and booze. So good!
