COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"System of a Stout" is an imperial stout infused with all the traditional ingredients of a savory cup of Armenian coffee: cardamom, molasses, coffee (of course), and brandy. In the kettle, the beer is lightly dosed with green cardamom for exotic spice notes. Molasses adds a richness that seamlessly blends in. The finished beer was then aged for several days masterfully roasted coffee from Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. The beer was then aged for several weeks on Armenian brandy-soaked oak chips for yet another dimension of flavors and aromas. Take your time and enjoy this endlessly complex and nuanced beer.

Excellente.

Bottle (22 oz). Batch 2. From Dan, thanks! Split-4 ways.

Appearance: Black with a medium easy to revive beige-brown head and some lacing.

Aroma: Nice mix of coffee, fudge, brandy, molasses and mild spiciness. Not overpowering and everything blends well together.

Taste: Moderately sweet with a massive fudge presence along coffee, brandy, molasses, mild vegetal notes, light acidic presence, hints of oak and moderate bitterness.

Palate: Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Silky mouthfeel. Coffee finish. Mild warming presence. Toffee aftertaste.

Overall: Extremely well balanced RIS that features coffee, fudge, molasses and brandy without any of the component overpowering the others. Flavorful, tasty and easily drinkable for the style. Not too boozy. Loved it.

Bottle shared by Tom. Thick black pour with creamy gold brown foam. Intense coffee aromas, brandy, rich roast coffee, caramel, light molasses. Taste is sweet, great coffee flavor, light roasty coffee acidity. Palate is med-full bodied, good carbonation. Very tasty.

Dark black pour with a slight tan head. Massive coffee nose, even though this bottle is from 2014. Well balanced, big coffee and chocolate in the taste with a hint of spice. Really nice.

Bottle.... Pours tar-black with a small, creamy, lightly-tanned head. Great retention. The aroma is a fusion of charcoal and spice-rack goodies, flanked by more-restrained notes of earthy chilies and bourbon barrel. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and airy carbonation. The flavor is a carbonic blend of burnt bitterness, black patent malt, coal and charcoal. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!
