"System of a Stout" is an imperial stout infused with all the traditional ingredients of a savory cup of Armenian coffee: cardamom, molasses, coffee (of course), and brandy. In the kettle, the beer is lightly dosed with green cardamom for exotic spice notes. Molasses adds a richness that seamlessly blends in. The finished beer was then aged for several days masterfully roasted coffee from Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. The beer was then aged for several weeks on Armenian brandy-soaked oak chips for yet another dimension of flavors and aromas. Take your time and enjoy this endlessly complex and nuanced beer.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a dark brown with beige head that lasts. The aroma is crazy potent coffee, spice, and wood. Medium moutfeel with a strong coffee bean, oak, booze. Very good.

Bottle (on Christmas)... Poured jet black with a thin forming head. Aroma of brandy liquor and coffee. Wow! This tasted so nice. Strong, dominant coffee tones that were smoothed out by the barrel here. Wood and spirit alcohol came in especially towards the finish. Also notes of roasted grains, molasses, mocha, and big roasted coffee all the way through. Couldn’t get enough of this stuff.

Dark Black in Color, terrific dark malts roast and chocolate flavors. Loved the aroma and the flavor is almost perfect. Great coffee flavors.

Sampled at GABF13. Smells like fresh roast coffee and has a winning balance to boot. This isn’t an overpowering coffee stout in any way, but it’s one of the best I’ve had.

On tap at GABF 2013, had a lot of spice and ginger like aromas and taste, was hard to get past the spice.

GABF 2013. Very dark brown, a bit thinner than I expected. Unique nose, of mostly coffee but also cardamom. Very smooth coffee stout.

22 oz bottle, shared by kmweaver, thanks! Dark brown blackish pour, tiny tan head. Awesome spicy coffee aroma, syrup, underlying spices. Dark roast coffee taste, chocolate, caramel. Full mouthfeel, long pleseant finish. I really dig this beer I didn’t even know existed 15 minutes ago. Thanks Ken!

22oz bottle, courtesy of Beachwood. Thanks, guys! Pours a deep, dark chocolate-brown color; medium tan head with excellent lacing. Loads of well-roasted coffee, floral and spicy cardamom in the aroma, plus plenty of milk chocolate; nice balance of spiciness and rich dark malts. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

S: Like other Beachwood coffee brews this is just straight up coffee, caramel cream. espresso, dark chocolate, cinnamin, and a hint of mollasses. P: Black with a finger brown head that dispences on to lacing. (the usual). T: Dark roast chocolate, some cinnamin and brandy, but doesnt go far beyond the coffee and it ends with a roast. M: soft carbonation and silky. O: Very good, slight boozy but still easy to drink.
