COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"System of a Stout" is an imperial stout infused with all the traditional ingredients of a savory cup of Armenian coffee: cardamom, molasses, coffee (of course), and brandy. In the kettle, the beer is lightly dosed with green cardamom for exotic spice notes. Molasses adds a richness that seamlessly blends in. The finished beer was then aged for several days masterfully roasted coffee from Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. The beer was then aged for several weeks on Armenian brandy-soaked oak chips for yet another dimension of flavors and aromas. Take your time and enjoy this endlessly complex and nuanced beer.

Black in color with a great tan head. Wonderful retention and lacing. Enormous, almost overwhelming coffee aroma. There’s a very nice vanilla note to it, a touch of oak, and tons of cocoa and dark chocolate. Of course, some roast, but great sweetness. The coffee steals the show on the palate, as well. Mild wood and brandy notes, a touch of vanilla and roast, and quite a bit of chocolate, toffee, and molasses. Just wonderful stuff.

On tap at Beachwood Brewing. Pours with a black hued body with a bit of red highlights around the edge when held up to the light. Big and creamy, fully retentive brown head. Aromas are huge. Coffee, spicy, orange zest, cinnamon, raisin, cardamom, brandy, oak, clove. Chocolate and fudge. Rich and intense. Flavors are big coffee and slightly boozy. Very in your face compared to Tovarish. Rich and spiced, lightly bitter, thick coffee and fudge. Feels like you need a spoon to drink it (while its not oppressive in the slightest, it is decadent). Some vanilla, light citrus, raisins and cardamom. Hugely viscous and creamy mouthfeel, medium carbonation with low tannin. Still somewhat dry (considering what this beer is) in the finish despite the richness. Definitely warming. Good stuff.

I was privileged enough to try the base beer before MORE was added to it and I was impressed by both. This is a well balanced beer that really showcases the coffee and to me the cardamom especially. Silky smooth. Not thick or cloying just a great melange of flavors.

I had this on tap at Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach, and, Wow, what a beer. Huge coffee aroma and flavor, creamy, rich mouthfeel and lots of nice hints of flavor. Loved it. It went down soooo smoothly
